Project duration: 1 October 2025 – 30 September 2029
Beneficiary – Technical University of Crete
Project goal:
The project aims to promote sustainable innovation in the textile and manufacturing sectors by enhancing students' skills and retraining at vocational and higher education institutions through the introduction of additive manufacturing tools, such as 3D printing, in the context of textiles and fashion. The project targets students in fields such as textile production, fashion, interior design, architecture and engineering, and aims to transform the textile industry into a more sustainable sector and market. By integrating cutting-edge digital competencies such as artificial intelligence, data analysis, AR/VR and machine learning, the project seeks to develop educational pathways for green digital skills and prepare a new generation of professionals capable of driving the dual green and digital transition. The project promotes the principles of sustainable development and the circular economy throughout the supply chain, encourages the use of sustainable raw materials, reduces environmental impact and promotes efficient on-demand production methods.
Project objectives:
– implementation of scientific research results on 3D printing technologies, sustainable practices, textile and fashion design into a specialised educational master's program for students and teachers of higher education institutions;
– implementation of the results of applied and fundamental research on 3D printing in the textile sector and fashion industry into micro-credit modules for training professionals, students and teachers of pre-higher education institutions;
– implementation of sustainable innovations in production by integrating scientific research results and advanced digital competencies in the training of future professionals capable of managing the dual green and digital transition.
Expected results:
The project will develop specialised educational programmes:
- A master’s programme for students and lecturers at higher education institutions, focusing on the intersection of 3D printing technologies, sustainable practices, and textile and fashion design.
- Micro-credit modules for professionals, students and lecturers at higher education institutions seeking to improve their 3DP skills in the textile and fashion sectors.
