On May 8, the Department of Digital Art, Faculty of Culture and Creative Industries, hosted a master class titled “BIRDS: Movement and a Colorful Extravaganza” organized by the “Sketching Club” research and creative group. The event took the form of a sketching session led by Senior Lecturer Svitlana Pashukova and was dedicated to exploring artistic techniques for conveying movement and emotional expression through color graphics.

The participants focused on combining academic analysis of nature with creative artistic practices. The main objective was to explore the possibilities of colored pencils by examining the structural composition of a bird’s form, the specifics of its anatomy, the dynamics of its movement, and the principles of artistic interpretation of the image. Particular attention was paid to hatching techniques and the use of color to model form, which help convey a sense of movement and spatial dynamics. The use of open, directional lines, contour blurring effects, and rich color accents enabled students to go beyond traditional academic approaches and create expressive artistic images, which fostered the development of creative mobility, visual culture, and the ability to generate ideas quickly.

The master class served as a space for creative experimentation, professional exploration, and artistic freedom, uniting participants in a shared desire to explore the energy of movement and the expressive possibilities of contemporary sketching.
