AWARDING THE WINNERS OF THE ALL-UKRAINIAN STUDENT RESEARCH PAPER COMPETITION IN BIOTECHNOLOGY

On April 22, 2026, the National University of Food Technologies (NUFT) hosted the final conference of the All-Ukrainian Competition of Student Scientific Works in Biotechnology. Representatives of the Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design (KNUTD) not only won top prizes but also received a unique opportunity to visit the modern plant of the competition's main sponsor, Biopharma, in Bila Tserkva, returning with valuable gifts.

Members of the "Biotechnologist" scientific club from the KNUTD Department of Biotechnology, Leather, and Fur demonstrated outstanding results. Following the project defence, Master's students Kristina Huseinova and Vladyslava Potupa won 1st place in the "Pharmaceutical and Molecular Biotechnology" section. They presented a study titled "Biogenic Synthesis of Nano-Zinc Using Lactobacillus acidophilus and Its Effect on Microbial Cells" under the supervision of Iryna Voloshyna, PhD in Technical Sciences and Associate Professor. In the "Industrial and Environmental Biotechnology" section, 4th-year student Inessa Korobka took 3rd place with her paper "The Role of Diffusion-Limited Aggregation in the Structure Formation of Yeast Populations" under the supervision of Ihor Hretskyi, PhD in Biological Sciences and Associate Professor.

The highlight of the competition was a tour of the high-tech Biopharma complex. The students witnessed the industry leader's operations first hand and explored its cutting-edge equipment. In addition to gaining professional experience, the students received valuable prizes from the sponsor: the 1st-place winners were awarded modern Lenovo tablets, and the 3rd-place winner received a cash certificate from Biopharma.

This success is the result of long and persistent work in the university laboratories. The students advanced from initial experiments to stable results, enhanced their practical skills, and learned to present their findings with confidence. This victory confirms the high level of student training at KNUTD and the relevance of their research.

Congratulations to the winners and their supervisors, and we wish them new scientific achievements and professional growth!
