THE DEPARTMENT OF FASHION TECHNOLOGY IS SUCCESSFULLY IMPLEMENTING DIGITAL INNOVATIONS IN THE FASHION INDUSTRY AS PART OF THE INTERNATIONAL 3D4U PROJECT

From 2 to 10 April 2026, Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design hosted a landmark event for the development of the domestic fashion sector – a specialised professional development seminar for fashion industry professionals. The event was organised by the Department of Fashion Technology, Faculty of Arts and Fashion, as part of the international project ‘3D Concepts for Fashion Education in Ukraine – 3D4U’ (No. 101128856) under the Erasmus+ programme.

The seminar served as a platform for sharing best practices acquired by KNUTD specialists during international training sessions led by leading European institutions – project partners: the International Hellenic University (Greece), Dresden University of Technology (Germany) and the Gheorghe Asachi Technical University of Iași (Romania). Under the guidance of Nataliia Pervaia, Dr in Technical Sciences, Professor, the training was delivered by project experts: Liliia Chertenko, PhD in Technical Sciences, Associate Professor; Oksana Vodzinska, PhD in Technical Sciences, Associate Professor; Marina Yatsenko, PhD in Technical Sciences, Associate Professor; and Daria Kaptiurova, PhD student.

The specialised seminar took place at the 3D HUB of KNUTD. It was dedicated to digital transformations in the light industry sector, focusing on information technologies for modelling and prototyping footwear, clothing and spatial forms using specialised CAD systems.

The seminar was attended by representatives from the education and industry sectors: lecturers from three departments at KNUTD – Fashion and Style, Fashion Technology, and Costume Art and Design; colleagues from the Kyiv College of Applied Sciences; and representatives from the footwear manufacturing sector.

Participants not only mastered new modelling tools in Rhinoceros, MineCad, and CLO3D but also learned how to create digital prototypes, which significantly reduce the costs of developing new collections.

KNUTD continues to consolidate its position as a leader in implementing 3D technologies, thereby helping integrate Ukrainian fashion into the global digital space and ensuring the training of a new generation of professionals.
