History in a Nutshell

Department of Economic Law of the Faculty of Business and Law, Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design was founded on the basis of civil legal disciplines, Faculty of Law of the Intersectoral Academy of Management and dates back to 1979. The department established a number of highly skilled specialists with experience both in the human rights protection and in the law enforcement authorities of Ukraine.

Mission: The overall academic major tasks of the department of Economic law aimed at obtaining a high level of knowledge in the area of economic and legal activities.

The department provides training in a wide range of disciplines aimed at studying a foreign economic activity entities, and the legal grounds of economic activities, judicial protection, protection of intellectual and industrial property.

The department focused at the implementation of research in the field of civil and constitutional rights.

Learning outcomes:

 

Upon successful completion of the course a student will be able to:

  • Lead legal affairs and statistical reporting in the companies and organizations.
  • Carry out an analysis of legal cases in the areas of law making, executive prescribing, judicial and in control and supervision.
  • Organize the legal work in public and private organizations, enterprises and agencies of different ownership forms.
  • Plan, organize and carry out external and internal legal audit.
  • Interpret and analyze the legal information for the study, development and decision making.
  • Conduct a systematic legal analysis of the industrial and commercial activities, to assess the financial condition of companies, institutions and organizations.
  • Provide financial and legal, budgetary and banking supervision at institutions and companies of public and private sectors.
  • Use informational legal systems and technologies in the field of finance and accounting, implement the formulation of financial and credit problems and tasks in accounting and auditing in conditions of implementing the constitutional right to access to the technologies information.

Within this learning program great importance is paid to profound studying of law and relevant legal issues, so a student receives in-depth knowledge of the issues in their science direction and considerable experience of research and as a result of successful learning will be able to:

  • Advise and represent clients in courts, before government agencies, and in private legal matters
  • Communicate with their clients, colleagues, judges and others involved in the case
  • Conduct research and analysis of legal problems
  • Interpret laws, rulings, and regulations for individuals and businesses
  • Present facts in writing and verbally to their clients or others and argue on behalf of their clients
  • Prepare and file legal documents, such as lawsuits, appeals, wills, contracts, and deeds
  • Work as government counsels for administrative bodies of government and executive or legislative branches
  • Advise a corporation's executives about legal issues related to the corporation's business activities
  • Provide a legal aid  for private, nonprofit organizations
  • Сounsel the clients about their legal rights and obligations and suggest courses of action in business and personal matters
  • Research the intent of laws and judicial decisions and apply the laws to the specific circumstances that their clients face.
International Cooperation

Department trains specialists from different countries. They are: Poland, Germany, Vietnam, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, China and others. Our department has established partnerships with universities of Germany, Poland, Czech Republic and China.

Teaching Staff collaborate with foreign universities and companies, including the CLM Consulting, Paneuropska Vysoka Skola. 

Students

 

The department performs consulting and other individual work during practical training of students. The teaching staff hold meeting of science club "The legist", prepares students to participate in student research activities, provides methodological assistance in the implementation of student research.

 

The graduate students pass a pre-degree  practice in a law companies, administrative bodies of government and executive or legislative branches.
