INGA YERMAK’S PERSONAL EXHIBITION “MOSAIC OF IMPRESSIONS”
Inga Yermak is an artist, designer, associate professor of the Department of Digital Art. She graduated from the National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture in the workshop of free graphics of Professor Mykola Ivanovych Kompanets. She works in the field of design, graphics and illustration.
In her work, Inga Yermak experiments with graphic techniques, using a combination of different materials that in a certain way convey emotionality and the variety of complex human emotions. She gains great inspiration from impressionism and modern art, which unites different fields.
The art exhibition “Mosaic of Impressions” is a series of graphic works in various techniques, which are the author’s reflection on the experiences of moments and events that provoke thought and turn into visual images. Some of the works are etchings. This graphic technique has been used by artists for several centuries to create images that can have quite a large number of copies from one matrix plate, on which the image itself is located in a mirrored form. But the uniqueness and feature of etching is that each print can be made completely differently, and each picture will come out with its own mood and atmosphere.Just as our experiences, memories, understanding of certain events can take on a different color with the passage of time, and we in memories of the event experience only our impressions of the event, changing the accuracy of the past. Our mood and state, emotions in the moment, can highlight completely different details in our memories, creating completely different images. Or we can perceive an event depending on our state at the moment.
Several works are made in the “wet-on-wet” technique. Travailler dans l’eau – (‘work in water’ in French) watercolor, Chinese ink with the use of alcohols and thick paints, which in combination gives the effect of dynamics – the objects seem to be in a time warp, continuing their movement. It causes similar sensations when you can see something out of the corner of your eye that is not there. On the water, the dark colors of the paint set in the light, which enhances the effect of specific lighting, and a glow appears. After all, we always want to see the light, and this always encourages continuous movement, inspires us to fight.
Inga, together with volunteers, is raising money – 5 works from the exhibition will be sold, and an account for donations has been opened.
