At the beginning of December 2025, the updated UI GreenMetric World University Rankings were published. This year, it features 1,745 educational institutions from 105 countries, making it a truly global ranking system for assessing universities based on sustainability indicators.
KNUTD has been participating in the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings for six years, as the philosophy of the ranking, covering the environmental, social, and economic pillars of sustainable development, aligns with the University’s policies and corresponds to the strategic goals across all areas of its activity.
This year, the ranking features a new theme: “Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals in Higher Education: Stories of Our Institutions and Communities”. The initiative continues to encourage universities around the world to participate, promoting a collective commitment to building sustainable campuses for the future.
In 2025, according to the results of the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings, Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design ranks 16th among 33 universities in Ukraine and 4th among national universities in Kyiv, placing 1241st in the overall global ranking.

The UI GreenMetric World University Rankings reflect the current state and policies of universities regarding sustainable development and institutional improvements worldwide. Its social mission is to draw the attention of university leadership and other stakeholders to issues of global climate change, the use of clean energy, rational water management, waste recycling, environmentally friendly transportation, as well as education and scientific research in the field of sustainability. Achieving these goals requires raising awareness and changing the behavior of ranking participants. Each year, new universities join the ranking, demonstrating the growing global commitment of higher education institutions to building a sustainable future.
