Ministry of Education and Science has announced an updated competition for research projects for young scientists

A new competitive contest for research projects for young scientists from universities and research institutions under the Ministry of Education and Science has begun.

This year, the competition is being held under updated regulations and opens up more opportunities for those who are just starting their career in science.

Step by step, a new ecosystem is being formed to support young researchers, enabling them to remain in science, implement their own ideas, and contribute to the country's recovery.

Key innovations of the 2025 contest:

  • at least 30% of the competitive funding from the Ministry of Education and Science will be allocated annually to support young scientists.
  • at least 50% of the Scientific and Expert Council and the Ethics Commission of the Ministry of Education and Science will consist of young scientists.
  • automated expertise: each project will be evaluated by three independent experts, and deviations in evaluations of ±25% will be considered separately.
  • university project teams may include representatives of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (up to 30% of the team).
  • introduction of a Code of Ethics for Experts, which regulates integrity, conflicts of interest, confidentiality, and objectivity.
  • stricter requirements for academic integrity: plagiarism, data falsification, “purchasing” of indicators, “predatory” practices, cooperation with the Russian Federation, Belarus, and other satellites of the aggressor state after February 24, 2022, are grounds for disqualification.
