From November 20 to December 20, 2025, the Science Photo Competition (hereinafter referred to as the competition) is taking place as an annual campaign to promote scientific knowledge, with the aim of collecting photographs and graphic materials documenting the world of science to illustrate articles on Wikipedia.

It was launched in 2011 by Wikipedians from Estonia. In Ukraine, the competition was first held in 2015 as part of a pan-European campaign, and in 2025 it will be held for the tenth time. Anyone can participate.

This year, participants can compete in five categories:

• “People in Science,”
• “Microscopy,”
• “Living Organisms,”
• “Non-Photographic Images,”
• “General Category.”

The competition will also feature a special award dedicated to the consequences of war, for example, images of destroyed or damaged equipment, buildings of scientific institutions, etc.

In addition, this year's competition in Ukraine coincides with the international competition, so the submitted photos and images will not only be able to win at the national level, but also compete for a place on the international arena among other participating countries.
