Pursuant to the Decree of the President of Ukraine dated January 26, 2026, No. 81/2026, the National Research Foundation of Ukraine has announced annual competitive selections of projects for obtaining the Grants of the President of Ukraine for Young Scientists (hereinafter referred to as the Competitions).

The Competitions are open to:

• young scientists holding the degree of Doctor of Sciences (up to and including 40 years of age);
• young scientists – doctoral candidates (up to and including 35 years of age);
• young scientists holding the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) / Candidate of Sciences (up to and including 35 years of age).

The purpose of the Competitions is to support relevant scientific research and development, to involve young scientists in the implementation of the state science policy, and to preserve the intellectual potential of Ukraine.

Thematic areas:

• national security and defense;
• fundamental research;
• information and communication technologies;
• energy and energy efficiency;
• rational use of natural resources;
• life sciences and medical technologies;
• new substances and materials.

New grant amounts:

• Doctors of Sciences – 7 grants of UAH 500,000 each;
• Doctoral candidates – 20 grants of UAH 400,000 each;
• PhD / Candidates of Sciences – 50 grants of UAH 300,000 each.

Application submission period:

- opening date: January 31, 2026, 00:01 (Kyiv time);

- closing date: March 1, 2026, 23:59.

Announcement of competition results: tentatively by July 15, 2026.
