The Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Latvia, and the Latvian Council of Science announce a call for joint Ukrainian–Latvian research projects to be implemented in 2027–2028.

The application period will run from 5 May to 10 July 2026.

Research groups from higher education institutions and research organizations of Ukraine and Latvia are eligible to participate in the competition.

Priority research areas include:

• sustainable development systems and renewable energy during times of crisis;
• artificial intelligence and machine learning in defense;
• development of innovative cybersecurity systems;
• biological and genetic engineering technologies;
• modern electronics and advanced materials for defense applications.

The deadline for application submission is 10 July 2026 at 12:00.
