From May 29 to June 3, 2017, the Eighth International Student Photo Contest "Hariacha Kryha" (further – Contest) was held at the Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design within the 17th International Young Fashion Designers Contest "Pecherski Kashtany", organized by the Department of Design of Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design.

The Contest was supported by the National Society of Photo Artists of Ukraine (NSPAU) and Exhibition Federation of Ukraine (EFU).

Participants of the Contest competed in 4 nominations: "World around you", "Creative activity", "Fashion-photo", "Free theme".

This year, 54 students from 8 educational institutions of Ukraine took part in the Contest, namely from: Oles Honchar Dnipro National University, Institute of International Relations of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University, Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design, College of KNUTD in Kyiv, Pavlo Tychyna Uman State Pedagogical University, Faculty of Market, Information and Innovative Technologies of KNUTD in Cherkasy and Kherson National Technical University.

The total number of photo works sent for the Contest is 322.

Contest photo works were evaluated by professional jury: Eduard Stranadko – recognized Ukrainian master of photography, chairman of the National Society of Photo Artists of Ukraine, honored worker of culture of Ukraine (chairman of the jury), Mykola Ivashchenko – Ukrainian photographer, member of the National Society of Photo Artists of Ukraine,

Vira Kosina-Polańska – founder and director of the studio "Vira Kosina Foto" (Krakow, Poland), Andriy Chekanovskyy – Ukrainian photographer, member of the National Society of Photo Artists of Ukraine, member of the Society of Slovak Photographers, head of the Kyiv Photo Club "9х12", Volodymyr Ovcharek – head of the Department of Design of KNUTD, PhD, associate professor, director of the Contest, Viktoriya Myronenko – PhD of the Department of Design of KNUTD, PhD of Arts, specialist in the history of photography, lecturer of  photography history, member of photo associations "Ukrainian Photographic Alternative" and "PhotoCULT", Anna Pryshchepa – student of IV course of the Department of Design of KNUTD.       

Winners of the Contest were become 16 students from four educational institutions of Ukraine: Oles Honchar Dnipro National University, Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design, College of KNUTD in Kyiv and Kherson National Technical University.

The opening ceremony of the photo exhibition of the best contest photo works was held at the Museum of the Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design on May 30, 2017. The photo exhibition was opened by Pro-Rector V.V. Chaban, Dean of the Faculty of Design M.V. Kolosnichenko, Chairman of the National Society of Photo Artists of Ukraine E.M. Stranadko, Head of the Department of Design V.E. Ovcharek. Speakers noted about the importance of the Contest, which has been taking place for the eighth year in a row, gathering creative youth and finding new talents. The Contest gets the status of a brand, which speaks of high quality and good reputation.

 

 

 

 

 

The Contest’s organizers offered to participants and guests the following activities: round table discussion "Photo-and-video design in modern museum space design: the interaction of the spheres", seminars "Why are so expensive photographers?" and "Photo poetry as a mean of visualizing word".

 

 

The theme of the round table discussion that is devoted to finding ways of cooperation between photo-and-video designers and museum institutions, brought together about 100 participants: heads of Ukrainian museums, teachers and students from different educational institutions.
