On September 13, 2019, the Dean of the Faculty of Natural Sciences of the Vytautas Magnus University (Kaunas, Republic of Lithuania), Professor Dr Saullus Mickevicius, visited KNUTD. The event was made possible thanks to the active implementation of the program for the development of international cooperation of the Department of Industrial Pharmacy of KNUTD.
Teachers and scientists of the educational and scientific laboratory of molecular pharmacology, chemogenomics and biogerontology of KNUTD (scientific adviser associate professor Bessarabov V.I.) presented to a guest from Lithuania opportunities for cooperation in the field of educational programs and scientific research to study the properties of biologically active substances of natural origin and modern chemical systems for destruction of ecotoxicants.
Dean of the Faculty of Chemical and Biopharmaceutical Technologies Associate Professor Baula O.P. spoke about the state and prospects of developing educational programs for training specialists for the chemical and pharmaceutical industries of Ukraine and countries which are interested in educating their citizens in KNUTD.
Professor Dr Saullus Mickevicius got acquainted with a number of major research projects implemented in the departments of ecology, polymer and chemical fiber technology (headed by professor Plavan V.P.), electrochemical energy and chemistry (headed by professor Barsukov V.Z.) and the development of research on Department of Biotechnology, Leather and Fur (Head Professor Mokrousova E.R.).
During the meeting with the acting Rector, Vice-Rector for Scientific, Pedagogical and International Activities, Professor Chaban V.V. The possibilities of Ukrainian-Lithuanian cooperation in several promising areas were discussed. Professor Dr Saullus Mickevicius shared the experience of Vytautas Magnus University in attracting foreign students to study and developing cooperation with universities from Ukraine.
A pleasant event was the solemn transfer of the signed Memorandum of Understanding regarding academic cooperation between Vytautas Magnus University and Kyiv National University of Technology and Design.
The lecture by professor Dr Saullus Mickevicius on Vytautas Magnus University and the opportunities offered by the signed Memorandum aroused considerable interest among students of the Faculty of Chemical and Biopharmaceutical Technologies.
The development of academic mobility of students, the exchange of academic staff for training, advanced training and joint research between the two universities will give a new impetus to the integration of the scientific and educational process of KNUTD into the European scientific and educational space.
