For the fourth year in a row, Kyiv National University of Technology and Design has been participating in the International specialized exhibition “Arms and Security -2019”, which took place at the International Exhibition Center on October 8-11, 2019.

The exhibition “Arms and Security” is a unique platform for presenting the scientific developments of the university aimed at improving the country's defense capabilities, the formation of modern approaches to support military units, and enhancing cooperation with scientific institutions of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and defense enterprises.

This year, the special attention and interest of visitors to the exhibition was focused on special-purpose knitwear with special properties, in particular army trekking socks, underwear for military personnel, etc. The presence of DEOKIL® fibers in the composition of the mixed yarn from which the socks are made allows to achieve high ventilation level, comprehensive antibacterial protection and unique deodorizing properties of the product, regardless of shoe design and season of operation. The sock was developed by the joint efforts of participants in the light industry cluster of the team of RA.DA LLC (director A. Prokhorovsky), the knitwear technology department of the Kiev National University of Technology and Design, and the Dune-Vesta knitwear company. With the assistance of RA.DA LLC, as a member of the light industry cluster, it is planned to develop in Ukraine the production of functional underwear for pilots of combat vehicles and balaclava from multifunctional knitted fabrics that are flame resistant. Scientific support for the project is provided by KNUTD specialists.

A wide range of protective clothing for military aviation pilots designed by the Department of Ergonomics and Clothing Design KNUTD, fireproof overalls designed for crews of military vehicles manufactured at the RA.DA enterprise have already been approved by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine as basic sets. Most of the products that are designed and manufactured by order of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine have been tested at the Textil-TEST analytical laboratory.

Such scientific and practical developments of the university became possible due to fruitful cooperation with enterprises participating in the light industry cluster: Ra.Da LLC (director Andrey Prokhorovsky), Ukrainian Shoe Alliance LLC (founder Gennady Kosmina), NPK Gidrostil LLC (Director Oleg Pivovar), Dana-Moda enterprise (Director Lyudmila Ivanova).
