COVID-19: At Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design started production of 3D-printed protection visors for medical staff, who work in direct contact with patients with coronavirus infection.
Such face and eye visors protect employees who are in contact with many people in the workplace. They are able, with the use of other means of protection, to minimize the risk of viruses penetrating the mucous membranes.
Personal protective equipment is manufactured in the research laboratory of the Department of Applied Ecology, Technology of Polymers and Chemical Fibers of the Faculty of Chemical and Biopharmaceutical Technologies of the University (Dean Professor O. Baula, Professor Professor V. Plavan). (Advanced Polymer Materials Lab and 3D Printing Lab)
The main part for the manufacture of the visors is printed on a 3D printer, and the protective part is made of a dense film. Elastic element that holds the visor and the print material - our own production with the developed technology. Biodegradable plastic polylactide is used for additive production.
Reusable protective visor mask. Convenient for prolonged daily use. Protects against falling of drops on the face and eyes by direct contact. Can be cleaned with disinfectants and hygienic washing.
The project was implemented by Doctor of Technical Sciences B. Savchenko together with teachers and students of the university O. Sleptsov, I. Sleptsov, R. Iskandarov and others.
