Minister of Education and Science Serhiy Shkarlet visited Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design

On December 3, 2020, Head of Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine Serhiy Shkarlet visited the University, which celebrates its 90th anniversary. The meeting was attended by the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the University, President of the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine Vasyl Kremen.

During the visit, Minister presented Congratulation letter to the staff on the occasion of the 90th anniversary of Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design.

Serhiy Shkarlet got acquainted with the activities of the university, the course of the educational process during pandemic and the achievements of teachers, scientists and students. The visit began with an introduction to a new art object created by designers in honor of the University's anniversary - "Inspiration in Beauty and Design". The three-dimensional construction combines elements of natural, spiritual and material principles as expressions of the ideals of perfection and beauty of the world. The authors together with students in this way reflected the energy of creativity and beauty in the power of design. The art object is associated with modern technologies in the fashion industry, the spirit of youth, creative freedom and the evolution of art.

Minister was shown the territory of the university, educational buildings, sports and other facilities of the university. Special attention was paid to educational centers and research laboratories. In particular, the Minister visited the Training and Production Center "Express Atelier", which provides students with the opportunity to get acquainted with all the features of technological processes of clothing.

How students use 2D and 3D technologies to create new models of shoes, leather goods and other products has been shown in educational and research laboratories for the design of shoes and haberdashery; design and technological training; sewing technologies in fashion industry the Softorg lab; anthropometric research; design and development of footwear in Delcam Crispin; Shoe Design Studio and others.

The creative approach to the organization of the educational process was demonstrated by the example of a modern computer class, which through creative design combines past, present and future and at the same time allows students to use modern hardware and software.

Minister was also shown the work of the laboratories of the Faculty of Chemical and Biopharmaceutical Technologies: molecular pharmacology, hemogenomics and biogerontology; processing of light and chemical industry wastes; perspective polymeric materials; perspective biomaterials and technologies, etc. Such a modern laboratory base makes it possible to ensure high quality training at the university.

The guests visited the assembly and conference halls of the university, where international conferences and defense of dissertations are held. They are equipped with modern audio and video equipment, LED screens. The hall of the Academic Council of the University, which is decorated in a palace style with elements of classicism, attracted attention. Pilasters with flutes, capitals of the Corinthian order, mirrors, stucco decorative elements such as arabesques, palace-style art, elite parquet, special chandeliers make this room special.


Summing up the results of the visit, Serhiy Shkarlet noted that Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design provides training at the level of world standards and was the first in Ukraine to start exporting Ukrainian educational services. Evidence of the recognition of the quality of higher education in Ukraine is the establishment of the joint Kyiv College at Qilu University of Technology in China and the granting of a license by Chinese Ministry of Education to Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design to conduct educational activities in China for 20 years. Currently, almost 500 bachelor's and master's students study design, pharmacy and chemical technology at Kyiv College in the first and second year of the academic mobility program.
