The Internationalization Program of the Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design was successfully presented at the International Forum "Internationalization of Ukrainian Higher Education Institutions 2021: German-Ukrainian Experience", which was held in a mixed format at the Taras Shevchenko Kyiv National University in early September within the framework of the project “Internationalization Management. Ukraine". 18 projects of the International officers and upper-level administrators responsible for coordinating international activities were selected to participate in the first phase of the project, which lasts from March 1, 2020, to September 30, 2021. Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design was represented by the Director of the Office for International Cooperation and European Integration of the Institute for Internationalization of Higher Education and Science, Dr. Eng., prof. Olena Kyzymchuk with the project "Academic mobility is today`s challenge".
During the first day of the Forum, the participants had the opportunity to master the skills of finding opportunities for international scientific and academic exchanges, to study the basic principles of motivation and self-development on the way to university internationalization in Ukraine. The second day was devoted to a thorough analysis of the experience of existing German-Ukrainian initiatives in the field of higher education and international partnership. The Forum was joined by Mr. Oleksiy Shkuratov, Deputy Minister for European Integration, Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, and Ms. Gabriele Germane, Head of Cooperation with Eastern Partnership Countries, Federal Ministry of Education and Research of Germany.
Management of Internationalization Ukraine is a project conducted by the international office of Leibniz University Hannover, Germany in the framework of the programme “Support for the internationalisation of Ukrainian higher education institutions – continuing education programmes for administrators at Ukrainian higher education institutions in education and academic management (2019–2023)” that is funded by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). The project aims to enable the representatives of Ukrainian universities to foster internationalization and manage corresponding processes and tasks at their higher education institutions as well as to build up international contacts and cooperation in the area of teaching and research. The participants learned about the concept and strategy of internationalization of higher education in different countries; compared the German and Ukrainian systems, as well as university structures. The program introduces all aspects of academic mobility and research cooperation, as well as how to develop and implement an appropriate internationalization strategy.
The final stage of participation in the program is the presentation of the University at the 2021 European Association for International Education (EAIE) Community Exchange International Conference and Exhibition from 28 September to 1 October 2021.
