On September 26, 2021, students of the Faculty of Design visited the National Museum of History of Ukraine and listened to an interesting, meaningful lecture "Time Symmetry: 2020-2021. Creativity of modern Ukrainian jewelers ", conducted by Iryna Udovychenko, a senior researcher at the Treasury of the National Museum of History of Ukraine and curator of modern jewelry.
Among the listeners of the lecture were students-designers of gr. BDyu-21, BDyu-19 of the educational program "Design of clothes (shoes)" of a professional direction "Design of accessories and jewelry", gr. BSHMK-18 educational program "Modeling, design and decoration of products" of the Department of Ergonomics and Design KNUTD.
The presented material was based on the comparison of jewelry of the XX century with modern works of art of the XXI century. Future designers got acquainted with the activities of Soviet masters and compared different techniques of jewelers of that time. Students learned about the new names of talented jewelers and their formation as masters. During the meeting, Irina spoke about the existing unions, associations of jewelers, the main trends in the art of jewelry. Emphasis was placed on the achievements of the famous jeweler Stanislav Drokin and the jewelry house Kochut and others. Throughout the lecture, our future jewelers interacted with the lecturer, asked questions.
This lecture is a continuation of a series of meetings with Iryna Udovichenko to improve the professional development of students. Thus, on September 15, 2021, students-designers and teachers of the Department of Ergonomics and Design KNUTD visited the Treasury of the National Museum of History of Ukraine. An informative and incredibly interesting for future designers was a tour of the features of technology, jewelry design from Scythian times to the present day.
The specialist showed the exposition and told about the functions performed by jewelry in different eras, the design features of jewelry of the Scythians, Sarmatians, masters of Greece, the era of Kievan Rus, the significance of the symbols depicted on them.
Also, Irina highlighted the artistic and compositional features of jewelry in the styles of Baroque, Rococo, Neoclassicism, Neo-Baroque, products known in the nineteenth century. jewelry houses of Joseph Marshak and Carl Faberge.
Numerous ancient exhibits of the Treasury and material about them made an unforgettable impression on the students, who expressed their gratitude to the guide Irina and the desire for further meetings.
Such events encourage further fruitful work on the development of the educational component of training for the jewelry industry and the exchange of views on current trends, the latest trends in jewelry design, innovative technologies for the production of aesthetically expressive products.
