During the visit to the Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design prof. Vladimir Bajzik from the Technical University of Liberec (Czech Republic) had a lecture on "Textiles for electromagnetic radiation shielding: the current state and production prospects" for bachelors, masters, and Ph.D. students majoring in 182 Consumer Industry Technology, 015 Vocational Education. Technology of Consumer Industry Products and 132 - Materials Science, as well as for teachers staff of the Faculty of Fashion Industry.

The lecture covered the nature of electromagnetic radiation, its sources, and the harmful impact on human health; described methods of protection and the principle of protective screens function; the main classes of shielding materials and possible levels of shielding efficiency were classified. Considerable attention was paid to textile materials for shielding and the main methods of their production. The growing demand for such materials is due to the expansion of their use in clothing and household, which sets a number of new requirements, highlighted in the presentation also.

The lecture was ended by a Questions and Answers session when everyone had got the opportunity to discuss some issues in protective textile development.

The Faculty of Fashion Industry of the University looking forward to furthering cooperation with the Faculty of Textile Engineering of the Technical University of Liberec both in the implementation of joint research projects and in the expanding opportunities for academic mobility, for example within Erasmus + programs.
