Birmingham City University and Kyiv National University of Technology and Design received support for the Erasmus + academic mobility project for 2021-2023. The essence of the project is to involve students in real professional activities that go beyond the educational program "Design". The method of training students in the field of clothing design at Birmingham City University is focused on the field of spectacular costume and fashion, and the Department of Artistic Costume Design KNUTD has accumulated experience working with spectacular costume, and developed unique methods of costume reconstruction.
As part of the joint work, an interactive project was implemented on the basis of the Mikhail Bulgakov Literary Memorial Museum in Kyiv. Students from KNUTD and the University of Birmingham created costumes for the play, which premiered on May 15, 2021, on the 130th anniversary of the writer's birth. More than 40 students from KNUTD and Birmingham City University took part in the project on a competitive basis. Students of the Department of Artistic Designing of Costume, who are the winners of the competition, will take part in the Erasmus+ academic mobility project in 2022 and will study at the Birmingham City Institute of Jewellery, Fashion and Textiles.
