This year, Tourism Day 2022, in the conditions of Russia’s full-scale armed aggression against Ukraine, is not a solemn celebration, but an opportunity to once again remind us that the tourism industry continues its activities despite everything. Thus, Russian aggression stopped the development of tourism in the country, but it did not reduce the desire of students and teachers of KNUTD to learn, develop and support the industry.
On September 29, 2022, KNUTD TOUR FEST, dedicated to World Tourism Day, was organized by the student self-government with the active support of the Faculty of Cultural and Creative Industries, as well as the Faculty of Management and Business Design of KNUTD.

Ivan Mykhailovych noted that it is not for nothing that this year Tourism Day is celebrated simultaneously with the 300th anniversary of the birth of the prominent Ukrainian philosopher and traveler Hryhoriy Skovoroda. Even the location of the event was not chosen by chance – as next to it, there is an art object with the name of the famous saying of the philosopher and traveler “Learn the invisible from the visible”, the basis of which is a butterfly – a symbol of the soul, immortality, rebirth, reincarnation, and transformation.
Ivan Mykhailovych emphasized the importance of holding such events because theyallow studentsy to develop, learn new things, and implement creative ideas and plans. The rector sincerely thanked the guests of the event for supporting the students majoring in Tourism and Tourism Business Management, which encourages them to become better specialists in their field.
Mariana Oleskiv, Head of the State Agency for Tourism Development, expressed her gratitude to the rector for supporting such initiatives. Ms. Oleskiv emphasized that our students are the future of Ukraine and the future of the tourism business in particular because creativity is what will attract tourists in the future. Today, the entire world knows about Ukraine, and the primary task facing future tourism specialists is to convert this recognition into a desire to come here. And this cannot be done without using creative approaches.

Maryna Radova, Head of the Tourism and Promotion Department of Kyiv City State Administration, emphasized that we are going through difficult times in terms of tourism development, reconstruction, and promotion. This year was very difficult for Ukrainian tourism. At the same time, Ukraine and the city of Kyiv have become symbols of the indomitability of Russian aggression, an example of courage and fortitude in defending our freedom and independence. Millions of people around the world know about Ukraine and support Ukrainians. Our country is learning to live and work under martial law. We believe that the war will soon end with our Victory. And in the future, we expect an increase in both external and internal tourist flows due to the ever-growing interest in the modern life of Kyiv and Ukraine, our values, and historical and cultural heritage.
It is important that the concentration of the efforts of the city authorities and the city’s tourism business is directed at an active volunteer movement, informing the whole world about the current state of the capital of Ukraine, and the aid that comes to the country and the city of Kyiv shows the unprecedented global support of Ukrainians.
Mrs. Radova congratulated everyone on World Tourism Day and Tourism Day in Ukraine and invited the teachers and students of KNUTD to cooperate in the development and implementation of creative tourist ideas, locations, and routes.

Then, a tourist and entertainment program awaited the guests of the holiday. Thus, students of the Faculty of Cultural and Creative Industries were the first to open the holiday with a tourist and sports show from Workout Street.
Students of the Faculty of Management and Business Design continued the cultural and patriotic program with the song “Take Yours”.
(Davyd Revin, Daria Tetervak and Inna Rybakova – with the song “Take Yours”)
Next, Daria Majorova, a 3rd-year student, appeared on the improvised stage with her solo “You made me coffee”.
At the “Fitness and Recreation” location, they shared knowledge about providing pre-hospital care during hiking trips and demonstrated a type of fitness using the interval training method in special Kangojumps shoes.
The next location, presented by the students, was an open area of a food court with Ukrainian and Crimean Tatar cuisine.
Everyone was treated to the culinary creations of our students and visited a real Tatar pilaf!
In the next location, the students of the Faculty of Cultural and Creative Industries prepared a tourist quiz and a tent-making workshop.
The students of the Faculty of Management and Business Design staged a flash mob to the song “Hug Me”.
In the end, all those present sang the song “Oh, the Red Viburnum in the Meadow”, which became a symbol of the indomitable struggle of the Ukrainian people for freedom and independence. From the first days of the Russian invasion, it sounded with new force, becoming a symbol of the liberation war of the Ukrainian people against the ancient enemy. This song united our people, it sounds like the leitmotif of our military present and inspires the current generation of defenders of Ukraine to the exploits. And the whole civilized world perceives it as a symbol of the courage and indomitability of the Ukrainian nation, which opposes the last empire in the history of mankind.
Glory to Ukraine!
