On December 8, 2022, a meeting was held between Ivan Hryshchenko, Rector of KNUTD, academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, and Head of the Supervisory Board of the pharmaceutical company “Pharmak” JSC Filia Zhebrovska regarding partnership in the field of drug development and research.
“Pharmak” JSC has maintained a leading position in the pharmaceutical industry of Ukraine for many years. Due to the high quality of its products and constant innovation, the company is one of the largest exporters of medicines in Ukraine and a supplier of products to the markets of 40 countries around the world. It has 25 production divisions. The production facilities, laboratory, and technical complex of the enterprise have international certification and meet the high requirements of the standards of proper production and laboratory practice. Over the last 5 years, “Pharmak” JSC has successfully passed 75 inspections and audits conducted by Ukrainian and international regulatory bodies, as well as partner companies from Great Britain, Switzerland, Germany, Poland, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Latvia, Lithuania, Israel, and Georgia.
The production divisions of the company are provided with technological equipment of the leading European brands «Siеmens», «GEMÜ», «AQUAFLOT», «SBM», and «Bosch».
The R&D complex of “Pharmak” JSC includes 12 laboratories and one research and industrial site. They have the API synthesis laboratory, the biotechnological API synthesis laboratory, the laboratory for the development of molecular and cellular biotechnologies for personalized medicine, 4 analytical laboratories, and 5 technological laboratories in various areas of development.
For almost 10 years, fruitful cooperation between the University and “Pharmak” JSC on the training of highly qualified personnel for production has been going on. Dozens of specialists and masters, who were trained at the Department of Industrial Pharmacy of KNUTD, are successfully working at the company’s production sites and have already proven themselves to the best of their ability. After the opening of the only Eastern European educational and scientific laboratory of molecular pharmacology, chemogenomics and biogerontology (ESL of MPhChB) at the University, and then a postgraduate course under the educational and scientific program “Industrial Pharmacy”, the cooperation between the company and the University expanded significantly. The scientific direction “Fundamental Technologies of Active Longevity” initiated at the University and the successes of the scientists of the ESL of MPhChB in scientific research on the problems of solid dispersed systems, which make it possible to significantly increase the solubility and, accordingly, the bioavailability, of sparingly soluble active pharmaceutical ingredients, laid a reliable foundation for cooperation between the innovative manufacturer of medicines and the University.
In May 2022, KNUTD and “Pharmak” JSC signed an agreement on strategic partnership, cooperation, and scientific exchange. Within the framework of the new meeting of the rector of the University, Ivan HRYSHCHENKO, and the head of the Supervisory Board of “Pharmak” JSC, Filia ZHEBROVSKA, the prospects of expanding cooperation in the scientific field of development and research of active pharmaceutical ingredients and modern medicines were discussed. This partnership is useful and will contribute to the development of pharmaceutical science and practice in Ukraine.
