On February 22, 2023, at the initiative of the Ministry of Education and Culture of Ukraine and the State Education Quality Service of Ukraine, a round table “The Impact of War on Learning Outcomes” was held, dedicated to issues related to the organization of the educational process in the conditions of Russian aggression against Ukraine, educational gaps, compensatory measures for education seekers, etc. The event was held by Pavlo Tychyna Uman State Pedagogical University. The meeting was attended by the heads of the Committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on Education, Science and Innovation, the Ministry of Science and Education of Ukraine, the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine, the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, people’s deputies, scientists, educators, representatives of public organizations, and international partners.
Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design was represented by Rector Ivan Hryshchenko.
During the meeting, the speakers were: Ihor Taburets, Head of Cherkasy Regional Military State Administration; Oleksandr Bezliudnyi, Rector of Pavlo Tychyna Uman State Pedagogical University; Serhii Shkarlet, Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine; Serhii Babak, Chairman of the Committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on Education, Science and Innovation; Yuliya Hryshyna, Head of the Subcommittee on Higher Education of the Committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on Education, Science and Innovation; Vasyl Kremen, President of the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine; Ruslan Gurak, Head of the State Education Quality Service of Ukraine; Oleh Rafalskyi, Vice President of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.
Presentations on the assessment of the educational achievements of students were made by: Andrii Butenko, Head of the National Agency for Quality Assurance of Higher Education; Valery Boyko, Deputy Director of the Ukrainian Center for Educational Quality Assessment; Valery Danylevsky, Head of the Department of Education and Science of the Cherkasy Regional State Administration, Olena Parfionova, Co-Chair of the “Parents SOS” public organization, Iryna Topchyi, Director of Cherkasy Gymnasium No. 9 named after O. M. Lutsenko of the Cherkasy City Council.
The participants discussed the problems faced by educational institutions and students since the beginning of the Russian Federation’s full-scale aggression against Ukraine, learned about research on the quality of the educational process, analyzed the main psychological factors affecting pupils and students under martial law, supported proposals for the development of an effective system of national measuring the learning outcomes of education seekers.
