On February 27, 2023, Ihor Ponomarenko, Head of the Center for Quality Management of Educational Activities, gave a lecture on “Academic Culture and Integrity” for the students of the Departments of Arts and Fashion, Management and Business Design, and Institute of Law and Modern Technologies, KNUTD.

High school is a peculiar model of society. During the period of study at the University, there is a period of formation of values, attitudes, and behavior patterns that will determine a young person’s place in adulthood. Therefore, the establishment of academic culture and integrity in educational institutions is a prerequisite for the development of a strong civic culture in society at large. Cultivating young people’s respect for human freedom and dignity, individuality, intellectual property, and copyrights is an important humanitarian component of the implementation of successful reforms in Ukrainian society.

Ihor Ponomarenko told about the main legislative acts on which the “Code of Academic Integrity of KNUTD” is based. He reminded students that its observance by applicants for higher education at the University provides: independent performance of academic tasks, tasks of current and final control of learning outcomes; references to sources of information in case of using ideas, developments, statements, information; observance of legislation on copyright and related rights; providing reliable information about the results of own learning activities, used research methodologies and sources of information.

The lecture was attended not only by first-year students but also by undergraduates, masters, graduate students, and teachers.
