Marks the 5th anniversary of the specialized scientific publication “ART and DESIGN”, the founder and publisher of which is Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.
The 5th anniversary of the scientific journal has a solid foundation – without exaggeration, it has a long history of more than half a century. The creation of such a journal actually singled out the direction of design as one of the priorities in the development of the University following modern requirements. The genesis of the development of scientific research on design was initiated in the journals, the founder and publisher of which was Kyiv Technological Institute of Light Industry (now KNUTD): "Light Industry" (since the 1930s), "Bulletin of Universities. Technologies of Light Industry" (included in Scopus scientometric database; 1958-1999), "Bulletin of КNUТD" (since 1999), which developed and deepened the scientific base, highlighted the achievements and practical developments in the theory of designing light industry products.
Since the beginning of the creation of the journal by order of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, "ART and DESIGN" has been included in the list of scientific publications (category B) in the fields of art history (Design; Fine arts, Decorative arts, Restoration), technical sciences (Materials science; Technologies of light industry). Then, the editorial board, which included the leading scientists and specialists of Ukraine and foreign scientists, was approved.
The first term of office of the editorial board of the journal was headed by the Rector of KNUTD, Academician of the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine, Honored Worker of Education, Doctor of Science in Economics, Professor Ivan Gryshchenko, who, together with his deputies, Doctor of Art History, Professor Tetiana Krotova, Doctor of Engineering, Professor Maryna Kolosnichenko, Doctor of Engineering, Professor Kalyna Pashkevych, caused a trend in the implementation of scientific topics, improvement of the thematic selection and its development.
Since 2021, the Dean of the Faculty of Design, Doctor of Engineering, Professor Maryna Kolosnichenko has been appointed as the editor-in-chief. Today, the editorial board consists of 31 scientists, including: 3 active members of the National Academies of Arts and Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine; 25 – doctors of science, professors; 8 foreign scientists from the leading professional universities in Europe and Asia (Poland, Romania, Moldova, Uzbekistan, and the Czech Republic). Their high authority and professional level, of course, affect the increase in the publication rate.
Over 5 years, 20 issues of the journal, containing more than 250 scientific and almost 15 journalistic articles, have been published. The columns of the scientific journal “ART and DESIGN” include articles highlighting aspects of socio-humanitarian and cultural problems of art history, methodological issues of design; problems of the history, theory and practice of design and artistic design culture; stylistics and artistic means of design activity; modern concepts and trends in the development of various areas of design (art and fashion design, photo, video, web, motion design, graphic design, architectural environment design, etc.). The publication covers the scientific research of postgraduate students and doctoral students; it is also aimed at scientists, scientific and pedagogical workers and specialists in design and art history.
The website of the scientific journal “ART and DESIGN” (https://artdesign.knutd.edu.ua), where you can find general information, an archive of issues, information about the editorial board, and the procedure for working with articles, is open. The languages of the publication are Ukrainian and English; frequency – four times a year.
