On May 9, 2023, the students and teachers of the Department of Smart Economics of the Faculty of Management and Business Design took part in an on-site training on the basis of UIFK-AGRO LLC on the topic “Achieving sustainable development goals and implementing bioeconomy principles at Ukrainian agro-industrial enterprises under martial law” from the head of the company, Mr. Dietrich Treis. The training was organized for the students of Specialty 051 “Economics”, educational programs “Smart Economics” and “International Business Economics” of the first (bachelor’s) level of education and the educational program “Corporate Economics and International Business” of the second (master’s) level of higher education. The students and teachers visited the company in Korzhi village, Baryshiv district, with the support and assistance of KNUTD Rector, Academician Ivan Gryshchenko, on a comfortable university bus.
UIFK-AGRO is a major producer and taxpayer in the agricultural sector, as well as a socially responsible company that takes an active part in the development of regional socio-economic policy in the Baryshiv district of Kyiv region.
The company’s CEO Dietrich Treis introduces resource-saving and waste-free technologies based on the circular economy, carries out charitable activities, and he is the founder of inclusive education for children in the district. In his lecture, he analyzed in detail all the features of the enterprise’s current operation, introduced the students to the innovative technologies used, and outlined the prospects for its further development.
10 years of successful work in the Ukrainian agricultural market, high financial performance, strong competitive position, reliable partner, and state-of-the-art agricultural machinery, which resulted in a rapid breakthrough in the company’s operations, successful investments in the effective future of UIFK-AGRO – all this characterizes the current state of the company’s operations.
During the discussion of the lecture, many questions were asked by the students about various aspects of the company’s functioning and the agricultural sector of the economy as a whole, as well as discussions on the prospects for the introduction of circular economy technologies to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals both in Ukraine and in the world as a whole.
Also, during the visit, the Dean of the Faculty of Management and Business Design, Professor Oleksandra Olshanska presented the history and achievements of Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design as a leading Ukrainian university of entrepreneurial type, where scientific schools and research areas in many fields of knowledge and specialties have been formed, focusing on the introduction of innovative educational programs at the Faculty, such as Bioeconomics and Smart Economics.
Next, there was a tour of the company’s facilities, during which the chief engineer, elevator manager and laboratory manager provided a comprehensive and detailed introduction to the modern technologies and innovations that the company successfully implements, including a smart fertilizer distribution system, digital equipment for sowing and maintaining crops. The students got acquainted with the operation of the elevator and the laboratory where grain quality is controlled.
