Lecturers and students of Birmingham City University at the exhibition " STEAMhouse Studio exhibition: Where Ideas Take Flight", May 11, 2023, Birmingham, United Kingdom
The curator of the project is the leading lecturer of Birmingham City University Nataliya Rozhin within the framework of the STEAMhouse project. This exhibition was created as a result of the collaboration of students from various educational programs of the Faculty of Arts, Design and Media of BCU – future fashion designers, textile designers, fashion managers, and photographers. At the exhibition, student works were presented, namely clothing models, textile samples, photos of models, etc.
The lecturers and students of bachelor's and master's degrees of the Department of Art and Fashion Design of the Faculty of Design and the Department of Modeling and Artistic Decoration of Clothes of the Faculty of Art and Fashion (educational programs "Fashion Design", "Modelling, Design and Artistic Decoration of Fashion Industry Products") and postgraduate students of the Faculty of Design (educational program "Design") joined the exhibition online.
Fragments of the exhibition
More than 100 students worked at the exhibition under the guidance of master's degree lecturers – Nataliya Rozhin, Kateryna Chrichlow, Sergiu Bechian, Barry Batson, Lucy Fellows, bachelor degree lecturer – Jo Miles and director of master’s program – Jasbir Kaur. Students tried to recreate the atmosphere of a design workshop in Birmingham in 2023: patterns and sketches were laid out, an inspiration wall was created, a table with photos from lectures, exhibitions and group events, students tried to show how ideas and prototypes in fashion design are born. Many real layouts, virtual models and more than 4000 photos were taken. It is important to emphasize that the exhibition "STEAMhouse Studio: Where Ideas Take Flight" is also a competition, the participants of which were awarded diplomas.
BCU lecturers and students in the exhibition hall
Among the presented works, it was nice to see the models of the graduates of the Department of Art and Fashion Design of KNUTD, Ilona Mandyradzhi, Anastasiia Halushko, and Ruslana Rudiuk who are currently studying at BCU.
The project was interesting because of the opportunity to visit the 3D visualization of the exhibition in a virtual space in the spatial app, where full-fledged digital models of clothes developed in 3D visualization software were presented under the guidance of Kateryna Chrichlow.
