On May 18, Kyiv National University of Technology and Design held a grand opening of the "Museum of Vyshyvanka" on the occasion of World Embroidery Day. The museum is a creative space where you can see both modern works of art and incredible and unique artifacts - ancient things that convey the values of Ukrainian culture from different historical eras.
Today, the importance of the cultural front is enormous. Understanding and being aware of your identity is extremely important. The myth created by Russia about the secondary nature of our culture has to be refuted by the cultural elite and ordinary Ukrainians already after the full-scale war with words, songs, and deeds. We fight and defend our territory, sovereignty and culture. Researching, preserving and popularizing the culture of the Ukrainian people is the task of the cultural and educational fronts. We hope for the further development of cultural projects on the basis of the museum, which will be initiated by university students and scientists.
The goal of the project is to preserve and exhibit for the sake of popularization among the university community monuments of history, culture, customs, rites, traditions, folk art, and crafts. Strengthening the interest of young people in the historical past, traditions and lifestyle of their people, involvement in the study and preservation of the cultural heritage of the Ukrainian people, fostering respect for the culture of other peoples, a careful attitude to objects of material and spiritual culture that represent scientific and artistic value. Creation of historical, ethnographic, cultural and artistic collections.
The museum is an element of the scientific, educational and educational space of the university. The people's museum presents exhibits of permanent and temporary thematic collections collected by the university community. Author's works, works of creative teams of the university, exhibits from family collections - everything that conveys the soul and lifestyle of Ukrainians of different historical periods.
The first collection of exhibits is the most valuable, and is a reason to be proud of our people and every Ukrainian.
The exposition of the museum is represented by a unique collection of "Krolevetski towels" from the Sumy Oblast, the towels are attractive with solemn festivity, beauty and monumentality of patterns and are included in the National list of elements of the intangible cultural heritage of Ukraine.
Part of the exhibition is represented by unique examples of the creativity of artists - students and teachers of the Kyiv National University of Technology and Design: towels, dolls, woven tapestry, a towel commemorating the birthday of the prophet of the nation Taras Shevchenko and the spiritual father of Ukrainians - Hryhoriy Skovoroda, "Rushnik unity" with a length of 7.2 m, on which artistic ornaments of embroidery from all regions and ethnographic zones of Ukraine are presented, and other works of art from different times from the almost hundred-year history of the university make up the museum collection.
Some samples of the museum were exhibits of international exhibitions and have already traveled around the world, and today they decorate the creative space of the Vyshyvanka Museum, created by the strength and inspiration of university employees and students with faith in victory and with respect for the historical past of the Ukrainian people.
