And on May 23, 2023, at 10:00 a.m., Dr. Olena MOSKALENKO, a researcher at Zhilin University (Slovakia), gave an open lecture on the topic "Use of professional vocabulary in business communications."

Students and academic staff of the department of philology and translation of KNUTD gathered in the conference hall (room 1-0130) in order to listen to the mentioned lectures. Other willing students and scientific and pedagogical workers joined the lectures online.

In the lecture, Nataliia Yugan analyzed the current issues of modern literary studies, such as: genre transformations, modifications and innovations in German drama in the 1990s - 2020s. The listeners got acquainted with plays by Oliver Bukowski, Roland Schimmelpfennig, Marius von Mayenburg, Ulrich Hub, René Heinersdorf, in which genre diffusion is demonstarted. It was stated that the boundaries between the tragic and the comic and other polar categories in modern drama become mobile, and in some cases, disappear altogether. Plays by German authors about moral choice of an extraordinary personality in a fateful time for the Motherland have parallels with relevant works of Ukrainian authors.

Dr. Olena Moskalenko devoted her lecture to the usage of English professional vocabulary in business communications, because English is the international language of economy, trade and business. The listeners learned interesting facts from the history of English business terminology, as well as practiced their skills in using modern business terms and business idiomatic expressions. The future philologists learned the secrets of corporate communication and providing effective business correspondence in English.

The lecturers shared their own impressions of the experience of scientific research in higher education institutions in Germany and Slovakia and characterized some features of the educational process at universities abroad. They emphasized the sincere interest of European colleagues in cooperation with Ukrainian scientists, educators and students.

The lectures took place in an atmosphere of active communication with the audience. Open lectures of Nataliia Yugan and Olena Moskalenko aroused the interest of philologists, students and admirers of modern Ukrainian literature and the English language.
