As part of the International Scientific and Practical Conference “Topical Issues of Modern Design”, which took place on April 27, 2023, at KNUTD, a fashion sketch competition "AESTHETIC AND COMFORT CLOTHES FOR THE FUTURE" was held.
On the initiative of the teachers of the Department of Art and Fashion Design, KNUTD, a competition "AESTHETIC AND COMFORT CLOTHES FOR THE FUTURE" was held for students, the task of which was to develop the design of models of women's or men's clothing for the production conditions of ROZA Knitting Factory (Kyiv) in the following directions: home wear; linen clothes; sportswear made of low-stretch knitted fabrics of various thicknesses and weaves. This competition was conceived as a practical task for students of education – a positive experience adopted from colleagues from Birmingham City University (Great Britain), who in the process of training students of education in the field of fashion design give tasks aimed at specific practical cases: for a specific event, production conditions, certain consumers, etc.
The contest accepted 3-5 artistic sketches made using any technique, including graphic software. The students of bachelor's and master's degree programs of the Faculty of Design and the Faculty of Arts and Fashion, future fashion designers, and clothing designers, studied the range of products of the ROZA Knitting Factory and offered sketch proposals of products. More than 30 works of sketch proposals of knitted products were sent to the competition.
On May 25, 2023, an authoritative jury summed up the results of the competition. The members of the jury included teachers of the Departments of Art and Fashion Design, Modeling and Artistic Decoration of Clothes – Head of the Department of Art and Fashion Design Kalyna Pashkevych, Head of the Department of Modeling and Artistic Decoration of Clothes Natalia Ostapenko, professors Olena Kolosnichenko, Nataliia Chuprina, Tetyana Krotova, Olha Yezhova, associate professors Iryna Davydenko, Halyna Kokorina, Tetyana Struminska, Olena Herasymenko, Petro Harkin, as well as stakeholders, practical designers – Bohdan Kass, Ivan Frolov (Ukraine), and Eugene Reabenykiy (Moldova).
According to the jury's decision, the winners of the sketch competition were:
1st place – Solomiia Bobak (gr. BDo1-20), Oleksandra Chukhaliova (gr. MgD2-22);
2nd place – Yevhenia Batsura (gr. BSMHK-21), Kateryna Minchenko (gr. BDo-19), Diana Petrova (gr. BDo1-19);
3rd place – Mariia Kindrat (gr. BSHMK-22), Victoriia Novikova (gr. BDo2-20), Victoriia Serkiz (gr. BDo3-21), Liliia Kara (BDo2-20).
