Continuing a good tradition of holding public online lectures from foreign lecturers for the students of the Faculty of Management and Business Design, at the end of the semester, on May 25 and 29, 2023, the lectures “Smart City: Environment Conducive to Innovation” and “Tips & Hints for Innovation Management” were held by Doctor of Science, Professor Mait Rungi, Rector of the Estonian Entrepreneurship University of Applied Sciences (Tallinn). The lectures were conducted in English.
At the lecture “Smart City: Environment Conducive to Innovation”, which was attended with great interest by students of the educational program “Smart Economy” and other specialties and educational programs on May 25, 2023, Professor Mait Rungi spoke about future changes in the urban environment and how smart cities respond to these changes.
The part of the lecture where Professor Mait Rungi talked about how to build a smart city, how smart cities support innovation, what are the important aspects of a smart city (sustainable/environmental, social, economic/business), which smart cities are the best and how Tallinn meets these expectations was quite interesting.
Professor Mait Rungi’s lecture was held in English and after it, the students asked questions and there was a lively discussion.
Professor Mait Rungi also emphasized the importance of building and further developing smart cities (15 of which are planned to be built in Estonia), their importance and value, and what a smart city may look like in the future.
On May 29, 2023, Professor Mait Rungi gave a lecture on “Tips & Hints for Innovation Management” to the students of the Faculty of Management and Business Design.
The lecture described the Estonian innovation environment. Innovation management is considered and described through different prisms: from aspects of a startup business to important characteristics of an innovator and work environment, factors of startup business success and growth.
In this context, the following basic issues were considered:
- characteristics of the Estonian startup environment,
- conditions for the development of the innovation ecosystem,
- the role of digital commerce and fintech technologies in the development of the ecosystem.
The lectures of our esteemed colleague are distinguished by meaningful and interesting presentations, important recommendations, and an inspiring friendly atmosphere!
The students and staff of the Faculty of Management and Business Design express their sincere gratitude to Professor Mait Rungi for his lectures. We also look forward to further fruitful cooperation within the framework of the implementation of the agreement on the winning ERASMUS+ project KA171 between Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design and the Estonian Entrepreneurship University of Applied Sciences (Tallinn, Estonia).
