On May 22, 2023, Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design held a public lecture by Tetiana Olmezova, Production Director of «Tekstyl Zakhyst» LLC, on the topic “Current realities and prospects for future specialists in light industry technologies”.

The event was held as part of the study of the educational components "Industrial production of products", "Computer-aided design of products", and "Innovative technologies of industrial products" for applicants of the bachelor's and master's levels of the educational and professional program (EPP) "Modeling, design and artistic decoration of light industry products" (Groups BSMHKsk-21, BSHMK-19, BSHMK-22, BSHMK-21, MgShMK-22), as well as within the educational component "Technology of manufacturing products" for bachelor and master students of the EPP "Fashion design", "Design (by types)" (Groups MgD2-22, BDo1,2-20, BDo 1,2-19).

Telling the higher education seekers of the Faculty of Arts and Fashion and the Faculty of Design about the assortment of manufactured products for various purposes, in particular for military personnel, production volumes, sales markets of the enterprise, co-owner, and co-founder of «Tekstyl Zakhyst» LLC, the University graduate emphasized the importance of light industry for the recovery of the economy of Ukraine, the ability to quickly adapt the industry in the difficult conditions of wartime.

The speaker shared the practical experience of real production and the achievement of ambitious goals regarding the introduction of innovative production technologies and technical production equipment. She talked about the peculiarities of the technological process of developing new models and preparing them for launch into production during the period of martial law, working with technical documentation, and highlighting real examples of management actions under the conditions of production.

During the lecture, its participants deepened their knowledge about modern cutting equipment with specialized software, vehicles, and documentation of the technological process of cutting materials. The information about the choice of processing methods and the use of modern sewing equipment for the manufacture of products for various purposes in industrial production was especially interesting. The importance of the high-quality design of patterns and design documentation with the use of clothing CAD was emphasized in the lecture.

The lecturer emphasized the long-term cooperation with our University and the high-quality professional training of students of higher education, and in confirmation of her words, she cited examples of the work of graduates of the EPP "Modeling, design and artistic decoration of light industry products" and their internships at the enterprise.

The present teachers and students of the Faculty of Arts and Fashion, as well as the Faculty of Design, listened with interest to an experienced speaker-practitioner.

Tetiana Olmezova familiarized the students with the modern requirements for specialists in the labor market and also talked about employment opportunities for future graduates – clothing designers and sewing production technologists. The meeting contributed to the understanding of choosing a type of professional activity, helped to evaluate one’s abilities, interests, and opportunities, and consciously choose a future profession.

A rich and extremely informative practical lecture from a Ukrainian light industry enterprise was accompanied by students’ questions about the current vacancies and their employment.
