COMPETITION “PECHERSKI KASHTANY”: KNUTD HOSTED THE BRIGHTEST EVENT OF SUMMER 2023

The XXIII International Competition for Young Designers “Pecherski Kashtany” is the first step into the professional world of fashion for many aspiring designers. At the origins of the University’s largest project were the “Chintz Balls” – the name of the student graduation shows of the University’s sewing specialties. Over the years, the project gained experience and weight, it grew and contributed to the development of creative personalities of Ukrainian youth. And later, it received the status of the International Competition “Pecherski Kashtany”, bringing up generations of designers, where everyone discovered themselves and received their first professional impressions of real creative competition.

The name of the Competition was not chosen by chance, as the University is located in the heart of the capital of Ukraine – the Pechersk district of Kyiv, filled with bright greenery and chestnut trees.

This year, 189 designers from Ukraine, Moldova, Georgia, Romania, and China took part in the Competition. The talented young people were caught up in a whirlwind of extraordinary events: from simply getting to know each other, communicating and sharing experiences to creative exchanges, preparatory nuances for the final fashion show, and heart palpitations and trepidation while waiting for the results. All this will forever remain behind the scenes and in the memory of young artists as one of the brightest starts of their professional careers.

The most valuable thing about the Competition is the opportunity to communicate with leading creators of modern fashion, combine intellectual and practical experience, mutually enrich cultural and national traditions, and establish friendly relations for future cooperation. Recognition of beginners and future experts in design, artistic modeling, construction and technology of clothing, footwear, accessories, and textiles makes it possible to introduce the work of young professionals to potential employers, which undoubtedly expands employment opportunities for young people.

The honored guests of the event were: Hero of Ukraine, People’s Artist of Ukraine, unsurpassed master of the stage Anatolii Palamarenko and prominent Ukrainian scientist, state, political and public figure, President of the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine, Academician, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Kyiv National Technical University of Culture and Arts Vasyl Kremen, President of the Ukrainian Furriers Association Ihor Zvarych, and others.
