The Department of Art and Fashion Design has student scientific clubs, the activities of which are aimed at increasing the professional skills of students and activating their creative potential.
The scientific club "Costume Design: Tectonics of Forming" under the leadership of Kalyna Pashkevych, Doctor of Engineering, Professor, Olena Kolosnichenko, Doctor of Arts, Professor, Olena Gerasymenko, Doctor of Philosophy, is aimed at researching the principles of a systematic approach to the design of various forms of clothing, taking into account the properties of textile materials and modern computer technologies. Research is carried out with students within the framework of the initiative topics: 0121U113712 "Improving the tectonics of building the form of modern clothing based on the study of social and cultural factors of influence", scientific leader – Professor Kalyna Pashkevych (2022-2024); 0121U113712 "Modern design approaches and means of developing design objects using information technologies" – Associate Professor Olena Gerasymenko, Professor Olena Kolosnichenko (2022-2024).
The members of the scientific club in the 2022-2023 academic year were bachelor's and master's degree students of the Department of Art and Fashion Design, educational programs "Fashion design", "Design (by types)" and postgraduate students of the "Design" specialty. The most active participants of the scientific club were Alina Monko, Anhelina Koriakina (Group MgD2-22), Valeriia Klymenko, Angelina Malko, Diana Skichko, Diana Petrova (Group BDo1-19), Yulia Ryabukha, Anhelina Bryzhak (Group BDo2-19), Rostyslav Pasishnichenko, Liliia Kara, Veronika Kachur (Group BDo2-20), and others.
On September 13, 2022, the first meeting was held, at which the work plan for the year was discussed and the topics of interest to higher education seekers for in-depth study were clarified. At the meeting, students' reports, devoted to examples of the use of modern information technologies in fashion design, were heard.

On October 18, 2022, an informational online meeting was held with the employees of the Scientific and Technical Library (STL) of KNUTD, teachers, students of bachelor's and master's degrees, members of scientific clubs of the Department of Art and Fashion Design.
In November 2022, at the meeting, the basics of considering the properties of fabrics in the development of complex three-dimensional forms of a costume and the means of harmonizing the appearance of clothes based on the analysis of the costume shape from the standpoint of the tectonic approach were discussed with the group.
In February 2023, another meeting of the scientific club was held, during which students gave reports on the use of digital technologies in fashion design. During the discussion of the reports, emphasis was placed on the methods of visualizing textile materials in modern clothing design programs, and their possibilities in terms of transferring the properties of fabrics.

On March 23, 2023, the members of the scientific circle took part in the online seminar "Sustainable Fashion Critique", organized by the teachers of Birmingham City University (United Kingdom), on May 10, 2023 – attended an online lecture as part of the webinar "Disrupting Patterns Talk" by Refik Anadol, a lecturer at Domus Academy (Italy), on May 17, 2023, they listened to an online lecture by Kateryna Critchlow, a lecturer of the Faculty of Arts, Fashion and Media of Birmingham City University (United Kingdom) on the topic "Principles of developing a fashion designer's portfolio" and other events.

One of the tasks of the scientific club was the training of students for participation in all-Ukrainian and international creative competitions: "Pecherski Kashtany", "Suzirya "Kashtan" (Kyiv, KNUTD), "Ode to European Ukraine" (Paris, France), and others.

According to the results of the activity of the scientific club in the 2022-2023 academic year under the guidance of teachers, 6 scientific articles, 12 abstracts of reports at International and All-Ukrainian conferences were published, collections were prepared for participation in creative competitions. Student Diana Skichko (Group Bo1-19) prepared a startup project "Development of a fashion brand with transforming elements" as part of the All-Ukrainian Conference of Higher Education Seekers and Young Scientists "Innovation in education, science and business: challenges and opportunities" (November 2022, KNUTD). 6 bachelor's and master's theses were defended on the topic of the scientific club.
