On August 17, 2023, the ceremonial Dedication of the freshmen of the Faculty of Arts and Fashion of KNUTD to students took place in the conference hall of the Academic Council. The event was attended by the first-year students with the supervisors of academic groups, guests, well-known research and teaching staff, heads of the departments, and representatives of the Dean’s office.

Ivan Gryshchenko, Rector of Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design, Professor, Academician of the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine, delivered an inspiring and motivating video address to the freshmen. First of all, he sincerely congratulated them and emphasized that the University staff with powerful scientific schools and famous graduates, for the second year in a row, start the academic year in the conditions of war and gladly welcome freshmen to its friendly family. Ivan Mykhailovych noted that our University with a history of 94 years has a high professional and educational recognition, confirms its competitiveness by its positions in national and international rankings. He also emphasized that education is the basis for the development of the individual, society, and the state, being one of the highest state priorities. The University has all the necessary conditions for offline learning, upbringing and meaningful recreation. In his speech, the Rector also drew attention to the University’s achievements in various fields and called on young people to be conscious, active, responsible, true professionals, self-sufficient individuals, to gain deep, multifaceted, meaningful knowledge and work together to bring Ukraine’s victory closer. The Rector emphasized that a happy future life is in your hands!

The moderator of this solemn event, Deputy Dean of the Faculty, Yevheniia ROMANYUK, sincerely greeted everyone and introduced the guests and the presidium. After the Rector’s introductory speech, the floor was given to a friend and partner of the University, Deputy Chairman of the Supervisory Board, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Viktor Lishchuk.

Natalia Ostapenko, the Dean of the Faculty, addressed the new students with best wishes. She thanked the freshmen and their parents for their conscious choice of high-quality education at Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design and, in particular, at the Faculty of Arts and Fashion. She emphasized that the key to every success is talent and hard work.

In her speech, the Dean spoke about the specifics of the educational process - security measures at the University during air-raid alarms, offline study schedule, class schedule, modular environment of the educational process, scientific and technical library, research work and creative activities of students. Nataliia Valentynivna paid special attention to the strong teaching staff of the departments. She noted that most of the faculty members have practical experience in scientific, industrial, artistic, and design fields, which they actively pass on to students, teaching them how to apply the knowledge they have gained.

Maria Bilianska, Head of the Department of Professional Education in Technology and Design; Antonina Dubrovna, Head of the Department of Digital Art; Tetiana Struminska, Head of the Department of Fashion and Style; and Olha Haranina, Head of the Department of Fashion Technology, spoke about the uniqueness of the educational and professional programs chosen by the freshmen.

Also, the heads of the degree-granting departments of the Faculty addressed the freshmen with the most sincere wishes for unforgettable student years, inexhaustible energy, inspiration in gaining new knowledge and peaceful sky!

Yulia Kushniruk, the head of the Faculty’s student government, emphasized in her speech that it is during the student years that everyone becomes a truly adult person, making decisions on their own. It is a rather naive idea to expect someone to solve problems instead of students. That is why, she emphasized, it is necessary to join the student government, which aims to protect the rights and interests of students, ensure their participation in the University management, as well as create opportunities for the intellectual and creative development of students, and promote social and public activity of higher education students.

The event was held in a warm, friendly atmosphere and each participant remembered this day as one of the most important holidays of student life. 

The team of teachers, staff and students gladly welcomes freshmen to their ranks and wishes them health and creative inspiration! We hold the educational front firmly!
