On August 17, 2023, a solemn initiation ceremony for freshmen took place at the Faculty of Design of Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design.

The ceremony commenced with a welcoming video message from the Rector of Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design, Dr. of Economics, Professor, Academician of the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine, and Laureate of the State Prize of Ukraine, Ivan Gryshchenko.

Ivan Gryshchenko congratulated the students on the beginning of their first academic year and extended his warmest greetings. He wished the students not only to acquire profound knowledge but also to develop their character, become independent, and enhance their skills. The Rector highlighted that the current uncertain times could be a test of endurance and resolve, emphasizing the importance of responsibly approaching education and utilizing its opportunities for achieving success. He sincerely expressed hope that this new stage in the students' academic life would be active and productive. Ivan Mykhailovych's words reflected a deep understanding of the significance of the educational process during challenging circumstances. He provided support to the students, emphasizing that education is a vital tool for overcoming difficulties and ensuring a quality future built upon knowledge and diligence.

Continuing the event, the Dean of the Faculty of Design, PhD in Pedagogy, Associate Professor, and member of the Association of Designers of Ukraine, Oksana Pasko, delivered a welcoming and guidance speech. In her address, she greeted all the attendees on this important milestone in their educational and professional journey. Her words were filled with support and hope, underscoring the importance of learning, development, and the impact students can make on the future. The Dean shared her experience and wisdom with the students, emphasizing the significance of being open to learning. She also highlighted the role of creativity and innovation in the modern world, especially in the field of design. Her guidance served as a source of inspiration for young designers, stressing the importance of the work they can contribute to the field of design and technology in Ukraine.

Greetings were also offered by the heads of the four departments of the Faculty of Design. The Head of the Department of Art and Costume Design, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, and member of the Association of Designers of Ukraine, Kalyna Pashkevych; the Head of the Department of Multimedia Design, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor, and member of the Association of Designers of Ukraine, Volodymyr Tymenko; the Head of the Department of Graphic Design, Professor, and member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine, Yevhen Hula; and the Head of the Department of Interior and Furniture Design, PhD in Art Studies, Danylo Kosenko. Each department head extended their greetings, emphasizing the importance of creativity, innovation, and efforts that students will invest in their education. They stressed that this period of learning is a unique opportunity not only to acquire knowledge but also to shape values and develop skills that will be valuable in the future. These speeches showcased strong support and interest in the development of the students, which was conveyed through their words of hope and encouragement.

However, this event was not limited to sequential speeches. It included captivating performances by former students of the Faculty. A well-prepared performance, involving students from the second and third years, added an elegant touch to the occasion. They skillfully curated a diverse array of performances that showcased different aspects of academic life, creativity, and friendly collaboration. These performances encompassed theatrical presentations, musical performances, and dances that left a lasting impression on the new students and emphasized the future opportunities they will have at the faculty.

Student life at the Faculty is not just about education but also offers countless opportunities for self-development, communication, participation in various groups, organizations, and events. To introduce students to these opportunities, the Head of the Student Government of the Faculty of Design, Anna Turcheniuk, gave a speech. She encouraged all the first-year students to actively engage in the life of Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design, build friendly relationships with their peers, and create unforgettable memories throughout their education.

As the culminating moment of the event, students were treated to a captivating video tour of the University campus. This video tour provided them with the opportunity to explore the University’s facilities virtually. They were able to familiarize themselves with the library, museums, fashion student center, creative spaces, art studios, sports complex, and other crucial University’s resources.
