On August 31, 2023, an organizational meeting of the heads of scientific clubs of the Department of Art and Fashion Design with students of the Fashion Design educational program was held. At the meeting, the supervisors familiarized the students with the plans of the clubs for the 2023-2024 academic year and told them about the directions of the clubs' activities.
There are the following scientific clubs at the Department of AFD:
1. Fashion design: tectonics of shape formation (Supervisors: Kalyna Pashkevych, Professor, Olena Kolosnichenko, Professor, Olena Gerasymenko, Associate professor);
2. Reconstruction of historical costume (Supervisors: Galyna Kokorina, Associate professor, Iryna Davydenko, Associate professor);
3. Current trends in fashion design (Supervisors: Nataliia Chuprina, Professor, Tetyana Krotova, Professor, Petro Garkin, Associate professor).
The meeting was attended by students of the Department of Art and Fashion Design of various courses, they asked questions about the activities of the clubs, suggested topics of clothing design for in-depth study, and discussed plans for creative work within the clubs' activities for the academic year.
The activity of scientific clubs of the Department of Art and Fashion Design is aimed at deepening knowledge in various aspects of apparel design – studying the principles of taking into account the properties of materials in the development of complex three-dimensional garment forms, the means of harmonizing clothes based on the analysis of the garment shape, the methods of historical costume reconstruction, studying the symbolism of traditional Ukrainian costume, methods of analysis and implementation of current fashion trends in project practices of clothing design, etc.
The results of the clubs’ activity will be the publication of scientific articles in professional editions, the participation of students in conferences of various levels, the creation of clothing collections for participation in competitions, the practical reconstruction of historical costumes, holding photo sessions, participation in exhibitions of the relevant direction, cooperation with Ukrainian art, ethnographic and historical museums, etc.
