At a time when Ukraine is in the midst of a difficult and very exhausting war, every citizen, more than ever, should try to maximize their abilities, skills, and knowledge for the benefit of the state. Ukrainian higher education institutions do not stand aside from the beginning of Russian military aggression in the country, and the educational community of Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design makes its contribution by providing educational services and raising a generation of true patriots, strong in spirit and with a sense of high national values.

So, on August 23, 2023, Kateryna Tarasova, a graduate of the  EPP Modeling, Design and Artistic Decoration of Light Industry Products, Department of Fashion and Style of Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design, was awarded the medal “For Contributing to Defence” from the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine. She connected her career path with the development and modernization of material support for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Continuing her research, which she started while studying at the second (master's) level of higher education as part of the scientific group "Creation of new types of special, industrial, and uniform clothes with predictable characteristics", Kateryna made a significant contribution to the creation and implementation of a summer field suit for women, the sample of which was approved on 3 August 2023 by the Main Directorate of Supply of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The development of military clothing for women is quite unique not only in Ukraine but also in the world. The suit takes into account the morphological features of the female figure, has additional elements for adjusting the clothes to the figure, and, at the same time, is similar from the outside to the male uniform.

We are proud of Kateryna for her strong civic position, professionalism, and competence demonstrated during her studies and further career path.
