The staff of the University paid a working visit to the textile-industrial enterprises of the Textile-Contact trading and production group of companies located in Chernihiv: a textile plant for the production of fabrics, TOV TK DT-Chernihiv and a clothing company TOV TK-Style, which specializes in the production of women’s and men’s clothing, namely shoulder and waist products, outerwear and corporate clothing.
The founder of this group of companies is Oleksandr Sokolovskyi, a member of the Supervisory Board of the University, a Ukrainian businessman, influencer, co-founder of the Ukrainian Fashion Week project, ideological inspirer, main organizer and patron of the Kyiv Fashion Park social and artistic infrastructure project, president of the All-Ukrainian Association of Light Industry Employers, member of the expert group on improving the Prozorro public procurement system, member of the Board of Directors at the Union of Ukrainian Entrepreneurs, member of the Presidium of the Federation of Employers of Ukraine.
It is worth noting that since the beginning of the military invasion of Ukraine in 2014, Textile-Contact has not stopped, but has restored its production facilities for the second time. The complete destruction of production in the East in 2014 and its third revival in Chernihiv, after the repeated destruction of production facilities in March 2022, does not stop the patriotic team today.
Since its foundation back in 1995, the largest holding company in Ukraine’s light industry has made a significant contribution to the development of the light industry, the training of specialists, and the Ukrainian economy as a whole.
The unbreakable spirit of the company, whose core values are “Transparency. Partnership. Enterprise”, allows the holding to be a leader in the domestic fashion industry.
The aims of the working visit were to get acquainted with modern production technologies, discuss current issues (education, innovation, development) with the manufacturers, study the issue of providing young personnel for the light industry of the region under martial law, establish cooperation and sign a cooperation agreement between the University and the enterprise.
The working meeting began with a conversation with Roman CHUB, Managing Director of TOV DT-Chernihiv, who said that since the autumn of 2018, the company has carried out a large-scale reconstruction of its facilities, restored old equipment, repaired the workshop, purchased and installed new Italian machines. Now the production of fabrics is focused on large European customers and contributes to the development of the clothing industry in Ukraine. The range of materials includes 100% cotton fabrics, workwear fabrics, uniform and waterproof materials, and home textiles. The combination of modern technologies, the experience of the company’s employees, the ambitions of the company’s management, and faith in the future of Ukraine is a significant investment basis for the light industry business.
According to Roman CHUB, TK-Chernihiv Textile Mill has optimized its energy resources by launching a separate boiler house with steam generation boilers. The modernization helped reduce the company’s energy consumption by 6 times.
The KNUTD delegation was able to inspect the enterprise’s facilities and get acquainted with the production cycles and technologies in direct contact with the processes in the workshops.
In Chernihiv region, Textile-Contact Group is represented by TOV TK-Style. Members of the delegation also had the opportunity to see that TOV TK-Style is a modern production complex, as well as to get acquainted with the work of the design department, experimental area, preparatory and cutting department, tailoring shops, material storage and finished goods warehouse. According to Svitlana TYTOVA-TOLSTYK, the head of the garment factory, 100% of the goods are made for export.
During the signing of the agreement, the Rector, Professor, and Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Ivan GRYSHCHENKO, and the company’s Director Svitlana TYTOVA-TOLSTYK discussed the prospects for cooperation, in particular in the implementation of joint educational projects and the integration of training efforts.
During the meeting, Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation, Doctor of Economics, Professor Liudmyla HANUSHCHAK-YEFIMENKO raised the issue of integration of science, education and business in the context of the post-war reconstruction of the country.
They also discussed with the heads of enterprises the possibility of implementing elements of the dual form of higher education in the context of practical training of students in the light industry.
From the perspective of improving educational programs, the experience of companies in improving production, addressing the issue of on-the-job training, and developing new technologies in production, including energy saving, equipment upgrades, and occupational safety was of interest.
The meeting was attended by the guarantors of specialised educational programmes, the Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Fashion, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Nataliia OSTAPENKO, the Academic Secretary, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Nataliia PERVAIA, and the Head of the Research Department, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Liudmyla HALAVSKA, who had the opportunity to hear the opinion of labour market representatives and University stakeholders on the need for specialists in the light industry.
Summing up the results of the meeting, we can say that business today is open to cooperation, looking for qualified personnel, implementing dual education, meeting scientific initiatives and joint developments, and commercialising innovative scientific products.
We bow low to the stakeholders of Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design for their daily tireless work and steadfastness, the stability of their positions in the domestic market!
