On September 13, the first meeting of the scientific club of the Department of Interior and Furniture Design “Modern Trends in the Design and Planning of Public Spaces” took place. The meeting was attended by 10 students of the “Environment Design” educational program at the bachelor’s level.
The purpose of the club’s activity is to study modern trends and approaches in the design of public space design objects.
The supervisor of the club, the head of the Department of Interior and Furniture Design, candidate of art studies, Danylo Kosenko, told the participants of the meeting about the club’s purpose, topics, and work plan. The participants got acquainted with the course and qualification works of graduates of the previous years, based on the results of research work within the framework of scientific clubs, with the publication of research results in the Art & Design scientific journal and the materials of the International Scientific and Practical Conference “Topical Issues of Modern Design”.
The participants of the club discussed the modern typology of public spaces, which are objects of design projecting. During the discussion, the young researchers drew attention to one of the modern trends in the development of public spaces: their multifunctionality, the combination of several typologies in one object. Here you can give an example of modern creative spaces, which combine places for work, creativity, education, recreation, etc. This trend requires taking into account the regulatory requirements for each of the types of premises that are combined in a complex design object in the design and looking for appropriate functional planning and artistic-compositional solutions.
According to the results of the meeting of the scientific club, topics for individual and group research were determined, work plans on these topics were specified, and tentative topics for discussion at the next meeting were proposed, taking into account the work plan of the club.
