On September 22, 2023, the lecturers and students of the Department of Graphic Design of KNUTD visited the exhibition of student works from the Department of Graphic Design of the National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture (NAOMA) in the National Museum “Kyiv Art Gallery”. The exhibition was created as part of the educational and experimental project “Iconic Kyiv”, the purpose of which is to study the visual face of the Ukrainian capital and find and develop a new design approach to the manifestation of Kyiv’s cultural environment.

During the exhibition, the students of the “Graphic Design” program and academic staff – professor Yevhen Gula, associate professor Leonid Bernat, associate professor Sviatoslav Podlevsky, associate professor Oksana Maznichenko exchanged experiences, got acquainted with the work of colleagues from NAOMA, discussed with academic stakeholders communities the ways to improve the training of graphic design specialists and plans for further cooperation. Within the framework of the event, there was communication both with the lecturers of the Department of Graphic Design from the partner educational institution, and the discussion was quite fruitful with Vitaly Shostya, professor of the Department, corresponding member of NAMU, Honored Artist of Ukraine, and with the authors of the projects themselves, students of NAOMA.

Lecturers and students of the Department of Graphic Design of KNUTD discussed compositional solutions and considered approaches to creating new design solutions in the semiotics of the capital in the projects presented at the exhibition.

“There are many quite atypical design solutions. Some are interesting, some make you think and inspire you to try to do better and more interesting”, shared her opinion one of the students of the Department of Graphic Design of KNUTD.

“Now it became interesting to look for possible options for the Kyiv identity project myself ”, said one of our students after visiting the exhibition.

Visiting the exhibition of works as part of the “Iconic Kyiv” project was important and useful, because creating a high-quality design product with a Ukrainian context is one of the most important tasks in the modern domestic cultural space, and in this context, active interaction with colleagues and learning from experience to create high-quality design objects are priorities.
