WORLD MENTAL HEALTH DAY AT THE DEPARTMENT OF PROFESSIONAL EDUCATION IN TECHNOLOGY AND DESIGN

On October 10, 2023, Ukraine celebrated World Mental Health Day. This day was established at the initiative of the World Federation of Mental Health with the support of the World Health Organization. The WHO defines mental health as a state of well-being in which a person realizes his or her capacities, can cope with the common stresses of life, work efficiently, and contribute to his or her community. In this sense, mental health is the basis of human well-being and the effective functioning of the community. In everybody’s life, there are sometimes difficulties that are not easy to overcome on our own, and sometimes it is simply impossible. It is important that at such a moment there are people who can not only listen and understand but also provide professional assistance.

On this occasion, on October 10, 2023, the students of the first (bachelor’s) level of the educational program "Psychology" of the Department of Professional Education in Technology and Design of Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design took part in a webinar on "How self-esteem changes under the influence of stressful circumstances".

During the opening of the event, Tetiana Borozentseva, PhD in Psychology, Associate Professor of the Department of Psychology at the Horlivka Institute of Foreign Languages, delivered welcoming remarks.

The webinar addressed the issue of defining self-esteem as a person's attitude to himself or herself, assessment of oneself, one's capabilities, characteristics, qualities, and one's place among others.

The event continued with practical exercises aimed at forming a subjective position and lifting the blockade in building life prospects, as well as sharing the experience of the webinar participants.

Alla Kolodiazhna, PhD in Psychology, Associate Professor of the Department of Professional Education in Technology and Design, summed up the event and thanked the teachers of the Psychology Department of Horlivka Institute of Foreign Languages for organizing and holding the meeting, Tetiana Valeriivna for her interesting and informative report, and expressed her hopes for continued fruitful cooperation.
