On September 22, 2023, the Department of Fashion and Style of the Faculty of Arts and Fashion, KNUTD, hosted a meeting of students of the first (bachelor’s) level of higher education under the educational and professional program "Design and Technology of Garments" in the speciality 182 Technologies of Light Industry with the director of "Kyiv Fashion House" LLC Hryhoriy Korsunenko.
The distinguished guest talked about many years of his experience in the fashion industry. After graduating from Kyiv Technological Institute of Light Industry (KNUTD), Hryhoriy Ivanovych worked as a cutting department master at one of the largest Kyiv’s garment enterprises, and went through all the steps to the rank of company management.
For over 10 years, the professional team of "Kyiv Fashion House" LLC, headed by Hryhoriy Korsunenko, designs and manufactures clothes for Paralympic athletes. Judging by the number of gold medals of the National Paralympic team of Ukraine, sportswear is ergonomic, high-quality, beautiful, and inspires our athletes to victory!
The students asked Hryhoriy Ivanovych questions with great interest. Thus, Yana Kazhukalo, a member of the working group of the educational program "Design and technology of garments", inquired about the demand and employment prospects of graduates of this educational program. Hryhoriy Ivanovych, as an employer, emphasized that there is currently a large shortage of top-level specialists in the fashion industry. Therefore, the real sector of the economy, manufacturers of clothing, underwear, equipment, needs technologists, designers, experts who have special knowledge of the design of sewn products and their manufacturing technologies, the basics of designing technological processes of clothing production, methods of assessing the garments quality, etc.
Also, the head of the student group, Karina Arendar, raised a question about the relevance of the list of the disciplines of the educational program and which of them should be studied with special attention to further professional implementation. Hryhoriy Ivanovych pointed out that he is well acquainted with the list of educational components of the educational and professional program. He regularly takes part in discussions and updates of them and thinks that all courses of the professional field are important to study. Knowledge of materials science, equipment for the clothes manufacture, the basics of economics, as well special disciplines as the design and manufacturing technologies of garments from various materials, the basics of designing technological processes will help future specialists in further professional implementation.
In the meeting with the stakeholder for the discussion of the educational and professional program, the teachers of the Department of Fashion and Style also took part: guarantor of the educational and professional program "Design and technology of garments" Larysa Bilotska, PhD, Associate Professor; members of the program implementation group – Liudmyla Zubkova, PhD, Professor; Arseniy Arabuli, PhD, Associate Professor; Oksana Vodzinska, PhD, Associate Professor; Maryna Yatsenko, PhD, Associate Professor; and Svitlana Lozovenko.
In conclusion, Hryhoriy Ivanovych wished the students professional growth, creative realization and encouraged our future graduates not to stop there, to continue their studies, mastering the second (master's) level of higher education according to this educational program.
