On October 26, 2023, the Final Scientific and Practical Conference of the First International Competition of Research Papers for Higher Education Seekers (hereinafter referred to as the Competition) was held on the basis of Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design with the support of the State Scientific Institution "Institute of Education Content Modernization" in three directions: Art and Design, Fashion industry and Public and Corporate Management.
The Competition was able to bring together higher education seekers from all over the world. This year, international representatives from China, the United Kingdom, Moldova, Poland, Georgia, Romania and others took part in the Competition. Ukraine was represented by participants from higher education institutions from many cities: Kyiv, Cherkasy, Khmelnytsky, Lviv, Kherson, Lutsk, Odesa, Dnipro, Sumy, Poltava, Zaporizhzhia, Vinnytsia, Mykolaiv, Kharkiv, Zhytomyr, and Kremenchuk.
The Competition was held in two stages: at the first stage, two reviewers who were members of the Competition committee studied the research papers; at the second stage, the Final Scientific and Practical Conference (hereinafter referred to as the Final Conference) was held, where the reports of the higher education seekers for the prizes were heard.
More than 50 research papers from 16 higher education institutions of Ukraine and the world (Great Britain, Moldova, China, etc.) were submitted to the International Competition of Research Papers for Higher Education Seekers by direction of Art and Design. The papers were reviewed by qualified specialists, doctors of art history, doctors of science, professors from around the world (Romania, Moldova, Great Britain, Latvia) and Ukraine (representatives of KNUTD and other Ukrainian higher education institutions).
The moderators of this Competition direction were Kalyna PASHKEVYCH, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Design and Danylo KOSENKO, PhD of Arts, Head of the Department of Interior and Furniture Design of KNUTD. The Final Conference by the direction of Art and Design featured reports by the authors of 18 research papers, which presented the results of scientific research of seekers in various areas of graphic design, environmental design, fashion design, etc. It is worth noting a large number of papers devoted to topical issues of environmental protection, improving living conditions for people with special needs, etc. The seekers, their supervisors and members of the Competition committee who attended the Final Conference asked questions, and an interesting scientific discussion ensued.
More than 50 research papers from 22 higher education institutions of Ukraine and the world (Poland, Kazakhstan, Czech Republic, etc.) were submitted to the International Competition of Research Papers for Higher Education Seekers in the direction of Public and Corporate Management. The papers were reviewed by qualified specialists, doctors of economic sciences, professors from around the world (Czech Republic, Azerbaijan, Italy, Latvia) and Ukraine (representatives of KNUTD and other Ukrainian universities).
Alla KASYCH, Doctor of Economics, Professor, Head of the Department of Management and Smart Innovation of KNUTD, moderated this direction of the Competition. The Final Conference on Public and Corporate Management featured presentations by the authors of 24 research papers, which presented the results of education seekers' research on public and corporate management. The topics of the papers covered a wide range of topical issues related to leadership development in modern conditions, the formation of corporate strategies, governance and activities of non-governmental organizations and other issues. The creative ideas of higher education seekers presented on the platform confirmed not only a high level of their research, but also the importance of close interaction between Ukrainian higher education seekers and their colleagues from other countries. Meaningful presentations of the seekers and interesting questions from the jury members became the basis of the scientific discussion and aroused the interest of all those present.
Based on the results of the review, 15 research papers were selected to participate in the Final Scientific and Practical Conference of the International Competition of Research Papers for Higher Education Seekers in the Fashion Industry, the authors of which represented leading higher education institutions from Ukraine, Moldova, Georgia, Romania, and Uzbekistan. The Conference featured presentations in English by the winning participants with visual confirmation of the research results in the form of presentations.
The moderators of this area of the competition were Natalia OSTAPENKO, Doctor of Engineering, Professor, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Fashion, and Yana REDKO, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, Professor of the Department of Fashion Technology of KNUTD, who thanked the respected participants of the Competition and their supervisors, as well as the reviewers for their fruitful work, friendly scientific discussion, exchange of experience and results of scientific research on current issues of the fashion industry.
All the works of higher education seekers submitted for the Competition were prepared on relevant topics in the Fashion industry, including the design of clothing and footwear using digital technologies, the development of special and military products, hats, and the study of textile materials and knitted fabrics, which provoked an active discussion among the participants. The professional platform created at the Final Conference for interaction and dialogue between representatives of the scientific and educational environment contributed to the dissemination of experience in the high quality of communication training in higher education institutions in Ukraine and around the world.
At the awarding ceremony, on behalf of the Rector of Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design Ivan Gryshchenko, Volodymyr STATSENKO, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor, Vice-Rector for Digital Transformation of KNUTD, congratulated the participants of the Competition, noting the tradition of holding such competitions for our University, and also noted that “...the Competition was really held at a high scientific level ... the submitted works are powerful, relevant, creative, so it was not easy for the Competition commissions to choose the winners of the Competition”.
The moderator of the awarding ceremony of the winners of the Final Scientific and Practical Conference was Liudmyla HALAVSKA, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, Head of the Research and Development Department of KNUTD, who sincerely congratulated all the participants of the Competition, their scientific advisors, and also focused on the wide scientific geography of the research works submitted to the Competition of higher education seekers, which is especially important and valuable during the period of military actions in our country.
Maksym SYTNYTSKYI, Doctor of Economics, Professor, Head of the Department of Innovation and Investment Management at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, welcomed the participants and noted the importance of the event, its international character and the creativity of the ideas of the younger generation of scientists.
In her welcoming remarks, Yulia TRETIAK, Doctor of Architecture, Professor, Head of the Department of Design of Kyiv National University of Construction and Architecture, noted that this International Competition is a continuation of the all- Ukrainian competition of student research papers in various fields, organized by KNUTD for many years.
Inna YAKOVETS, Doctor of Arts, Professor, Head of the Design Department at Cherkasy State Technological University, welcomed the Conference participants and emphasized that students' research work, such contests and conferences are important for the post-war recovery of our country, as they will help train professional specialists in various fields.
Our colleague Angela SKRIPCHENKO, PhD, Associate Professor of the Faculty of Design at the Technical University of Moldova (TUM), delivered touching welcoming remarks. The KNUTD graduate cordially congratulated all the participants of the Competition, emphasized the high level of organization of the Competition and the wide range of participants, spoke about the long-term cooperation between TUM and KNUTD, the intention to continue joint research projects and research, and wished the Conference participants success, interesting reports and constructive discussion, and, of course, peace in Ukraine.
Mykola RIABCHYKOV, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, Professor of the Department of Light Industry Technology at Lutsk National Technical University, also addressed the Conference participants with sincere greetings and wished the youth success in their studies, creative achievements, and encouraged them to acquire communicative competence through communication in a foreign language, which will significantly expand the boundaries of scientific and educational activities.
After sincere congratulations from her esteemed colleagues, Liudmyla HALAVSKA invited the deputy chairpersons of the Competition commissions in the directions of Art and Design, Fashion Industry and Public and Corporate Management to speak, and they announced the winners of the Competition and awarded them with diplomas of the first, second, and third degrees.
A list of the winners and their diplomas, as well as gratitude to the supervisors, will be posted on the official page of the Competition on the website of Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design.
