ROUNDTABLE ON THE UKRAINIAN LANGUAGE AND LITERATURE DAY «LANGUAGE POLICY AS THE LEGASY OF LINGUICIDE IN VARIOUS RUSSIAN FORMS»

As part of the patriotic and educational event, academic staff and students of the Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design, Department of Information and Computer Technologies, Faculty of Mechatronics and Computer Technologies, participated in a round table discussion on the topic «Ukraine's Language Policy as the Legacy of Linguicide in Various Russian Forms».

The event took place at the "Media Сenter" Directorate of the State Enterprise "General Directorate for Servicing Foreign Missions" and was conducted in both in-person and online formats.

The event was moderated by His Excellency, the Ambassador, former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine (2007-2009), and the head of the Russia Research Center, Volodymyr Ogryzko.

The roundtable discussion brought together a diverse group of participants, including a journalist, a cultural expert, a publicist, a language policy specialist, a civil activist, a translator, a member of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine and the National Union of Writers of Ukraine, and the author of the book "30 Years of Independence: Language Acts that Change Ukraine," Taras Marusyk; His Excellency, the Ambassador, an expert from the Russia Research Center, and an expert from the Ukraine Foreign Ministry, Serhiy Borshevsky; a politician, scholar, and public figure, as well as the Commissioner for the Protection of the State Language, Taras Kremin.

The discussion was also joined online by Natalia Pipa, a Member of Parliament and the Secretary of the Committee on Education, Science, and Innovation of the Verkhovna Rada. In addition, a linguist, Doctor of Philological Sciences, Professor, and Director of the Institute of the Ukrainian Language at the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Pavlo Hrytsenko, recorded a video message.

At the end of the roundtable, the guests actively posed questions to the experts.

Today, the Day of Ukrainian Writing and Language holds special significance. This day reminds all citizens of Ukraine about the importance of preserving and developing our native language and its role in the modern world. Let us remember and cherish our language! Glory to Ukraine and its Heroes!
