On December 13, 2023, the final meeting of the Academic Council of the Faculty of Design took place, at which the results of the work of the departments and the Faculty in general in 2023 were summarized, the implementation of the Faculty's target indicators was discussed, and the main vectors of the Faculty's work for 2024 were determined.
The Dean of the Faculty of Design, Kalyna Pashkevych, Doctor of Engineering, Professor, reported on the results of the Faculty's activities in 2023.
The Head of the Department of Multimedia Design Natalia Chuprina, Doctor of Art History, Professor, noted the increase in the share of higher education seekers and academic workers who participated in international academic mobility programs in 2023, in particular, under the Erasmus+ program within the framework of agreements with Riga Technical University, Baltic International Academy (Riga, Latvia), Academy of Fine Arts and Design (Bratislava, Slovakia), the Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Art and Design in Wroclaw (Wroclaw, Poland), Qilu University of Technology (PRC), Birmingham City University (Birmingham, the United Kingdom), etc.
Yevhen Gula, Professor, Head of the Department of Graphic Design, emphasized the good recruitment of students for various educational programs of the design faculty in 2023 and the fruitful work of faculty teachers in training students and graduate students within the framework of contracts with Shaanxi University of Science and Technology, Qilu University of Technology (PRC).
Danylo Kosenko, PhD, Head of the Department of Interior and Furniture Design, noted the general increase in the number of indexed publications of academic workers in publications referenced in the scientific and metric databases Scopus and Web of Science, as well as an increase in the number of publications in Category B journals, in particular, the scientific journal "Art&Design" (KNUTD), including jointly with foreign partners.
Kalyna Pashkevych, Doctor of Engineering, Professor also spoke about the scientific research work carried out by the scientists of the Faculty by the order of MEDRYNOK LLC (Lutsk, Ukraine), the increase in the number of invited foreign lecturers from Moldova, the United Kingdom, Italy and the beginning of the FashionTEX project "FashionTEX European Academy of Young Designers to Study Innovative Technologies in Digital Fashion Design" (2023-2025) jointly with the Faculty of Arts and Fashion.
In 2023, the academic team has made significant gains in all target performance indicators. Research areas headed by Doctors of Science, Professors Vadym Abyzov, Doctor of Architecture, Professor, Rada Mykhailova, Doctor of Art History, Professor, Tetiana Krotova, Doctor of Art History, Professor, Olena Kolosnichenko, Doctor of Art History, Professor, Natalia Chuprina, Doctor of Art History, Professor, Oleksandra Kolisnyk, Doctor of Philosophical Sciences, Professor, Kalyna Pashkevych, Doctor of Engineering, Professor, work effectively at the Faculty, creative activity continues within art schools, the founders of which were Tetiana Nikolayeva, PhD, Professor, Volodymyr Kolesnikov, Artist, Professor, and Yevhen Gula, Artist, Professor.
With the assistance of the Rector of the University, Doctor of Science in Economics, Professor, Academician Ivan Gryshchenko, the Exhibition Center "Art Space" was opened, where exhibitions of well-known artists of the Faculty of Design Yevhen Gula, Professor Mykhailo Rudenko, Professor Oleksandr Krotevich, Doctor of Art History, Associate Professor Anatoly Shapoval, Professor, were held.
In 2023, the students and teachers of the Faculty took part in numerous creative exhibitions, conferences, competitions, shows, in particular, the exhibition of achievements of the Faculty of Design "Contrasts of creativity of the Faculty of Design", competitions "Pecherski Kashtany", "Save ENERDGY", "SUZIRYA "KASHTAN", "Aesthetic and comfort clothes for the future" (Ukraine), Neo.Fashion (Germany), shows as part of London Fashion Week (the United Kingdom), Paris Fashion Week (France), Berlin Fashion Week (Germany), international online competitions in Turkey and Japan, etc.
Summing up the meeting of the Academic Council, the main directions of development of the Faculty of Design for 2024 were outlined to ensure effective training of students and high-level scientific, methodological and educational activities.
