On December 12, 2023, an online round table was held between the Department of Interior and Furniture Design of Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design (KNUTD) and the Department of Urbanism and Urban Design (UUD) of the Technical University of Moldova (TUM). The meeting was dedicated to the discussion of the educational programs "Environmental Design" of the Department of Interior and Furniture Design at KNUTD and "Interior Design" of the UUD Department at TUM, as well as plans for further collaboration between the departments.
Danylo KOSENKO, PhD and Head of the Department of the Interior and Furniture Design at KNUTD, briefly acquainted Moldovan colleagues with the history of the Department, the features of the “Environmental Design” programs at the bachelor’s and master’s levels implemented by the Department. The combination of comprehensive training in interior and furniture design within one educational program sparked particular interest among the colleagues.
Liliana PLATON, PhD and Head of the UUD Department at TUM, provided a detailed presentation of the "Interior Design" bachelor’s program. She showcased examples of student works carried out within the discipline “Atelier Design” from the first to the fourth years of bachelor's studies, including examples of bachelor's qualification works. Among the features of the educational program, Liliana Platon emphasized the significant attention given to courses in the artistic cycle, which include not only drawing and painting courses but also applied arts, such as textiles and ceramics.
In addition, Ukrainian and Moldovan colleagues discussed prospects for collaboration between the departments under the existing agreement between KNUTD and TUM, particularly regarding academic mobility for students and teachers, as well as joint research projects. Danylo KOSENKO, Head of the Department of Interior and Furniture Design at KNUTD, invited colleagues to participate in the International Scientific and Practical Conference "Current Issues of Modern Design", which will take place in April 2024 for the sixth time. In return, Liliana PLATON, Head of the UUD Department at TUM, invited Ukrainian researchers to participate in an international conference on design and architecture organized next year jointly by the universities of Chisinau (Moldova) and Iasi (Romania).
The faculty members of the Department of Interior and Furniture Design at KNUTD and the UUD Department at TUM noted the fruitful nature of the meeting and outlined topics for future discussions.
