At the beginning of 2024, the Department of Biotechnology, Leather and Fur summarises the work of the Biotechnologist student scientific club in 2023. Throughout the year, the club members worked fruitfully in the Department's training and research laboratories acquiring new practical skills.
During the calendar year, the results of the students' research were published in 11 articles, 4 of which were published in the Scopus scientometric database. The students' participation in international conferences in Ukraine, Lithuania, France, Germany, Austria, Sweden, Romania, and Singapore was confirmed by the publication of 25 abstracts.
Nine members of the club, who are students of the second level of higher education, demonstrated a high level of knowledge and defended their qualification work with excellent marks.
Students were also involved in research as part of the implementation of state budget targeted programs and start-up projects of the Department:
1. State Targeted Scientific and Technical Program for Research in the Antarctic for 2011-2023 (Head: O. Yungin, PhD, Associate Professor);
2. Startup "Biogenic silver" in the field of "Healthcare" within the framework of "Science & Business - GIST Pitch Days" (in a team with the head of the group I. Voloshyna, PhD, Associate Professor; O. Yungin, PhD, Associate Professor and under the guidance of O. Shydlovska, PhD, Associate Professor).
The club members also took part in the KNUTD-2023 startup competition, taking second place with their work "Living Solutions".
Throughout the year, students had the opportunity to take part in public lectures by leading experts from the Department of Biotechnology, Leather and Fur, as well as foreign lecturers from Belgium and Lithuania.
2023 was a busy and interesting year for the club members! Unfortunately, the war continues, but student life goes on. We look forward to new scientific achievements! GLORY TO UKRAINE!
