STUDENTS OF THE DEPARTMENT OF ART AND FASHION DESIGN AT THE THEATER MUSEUM

On February 28, 2024, students of the first (bachelor’s) and second (master’s) levels of higher education of the Department of Art and Fashion Design of the EP “Fashion Design” together with Iryna Davydenko, associate professor of the Department, visited the Museum of Theater, Music and Film Arts of Ukraine.

The museum hosted a curatorial tour of the exhibition "100 Years of the Avant-Garde Museum" by Tetiana Rudenko, the main custodian of the museum’s funds, during which students got acquainted with the history and collection of the Theater Museum.

The exhibition presents the first additions to the museum collection, scenography by artists of the 1920s, archival photos, digital prints of negatives from the collection of the cult Berezil Ukrainian Theater, an archive of international exhibition projects of the late 1980s of the 20th century up to the present, as well as original works that entered the museum collection thanks to the exhibition projects of 2023.

The students were interested in unique exhibits from the collection of the Museum of Theater, Music and Cinema of Ukraine, including sketches of theater costumes by Vadym Meller, Anatoly Petrytskyi and Oleksandr Khvostenko-Khvostov, posters for performances of the Berezil Art Association, the design of which was developed by a master shop under the leadership of Vadym Meller. In addition, the exposition presents ancient stage costumes, modern reconstruction of theatrical costumes, as well as original costumes for the modern Ukrainian film "Pamfir" (2022).
