Practical training in the system of professional training of applicants for the first (bachelor’s) level of higher education is an important component of the educational process and an integral condition for the formation of highly qualified specialists at the University. Practical training is a link between the theoretical training of a future professional and his or her work in various institutions within the chosen profession. During practice, students must consolidate professionally important knowledge, skills and abilities they have acquired while studying at a higher education institution.
From February 12 to March 09, 2024, students of the educational and professional programs “Professional Education” and “Psychology” underwent practical training in preschool institutions (PIs) and municipal institutions of professional (vocational and technical) education.
The bases for the practice of the 4th-year students of the first (bachelor's) level of the educational and professional program “Professional Education” are Kyiv Professional College of Art and Service Technologies and Kyiv Professional College of Technology and Fashion Design. The purpose of the practical training for students was to conduct educational work with students of PIs, develop the ability to analyze the educational process in a vocational education institution, self-assess their own activities, and develop a creative approach to the profession.
During their practical training, future teachers had an opportunity to get acquainted with the organization of the pedagogical process in PIs, their educational and material base; learn from the experience of educational, methodological and educational masters of industrial training and professional teachers; independently develop and conduct lessons, educational activities and master classes; improve their pedagogical technique.
The current situation of training psychology experts, the real growth of public demand for practical psychologists significantly increases the level of requirements for future specialists, and also changes the content and structure of tasks that students must be able to solve independently. That is why the main goal of the practical training of a future psychologist is to master modern methods and forms of organizing activities in their future profession, develop their skills and abilities in professional activities, develop applied algorithms for solving specific problems that arise in various fields of application of psychological knowledge.
The bases for practices of higher education seekers of the first (bachelor’s) level under the educational and professional program “Psychology” are preschool institutions №143, 205, 632, 731 of the Pechersk district of Kyiv, preschool institution (kindergarten) № 240 of the Darnytskyi district of Kyiv, preschool institution (kindergarten) №802 "Parostok" of the Podilskyi district of Kyiv, preschool institution "Maliatko" of Holovanivka Village Council of the Kirovohrad region, Kremenchuk preschool institution (nursery school) No. 62 of Kremenchuk City Council of the Poltava region, Borivske preschool institution "Kalynka" of Fastiv City Council of the Kyiv region, preschool institution (nursery school) of combined type "Katrusia" in Obukhiv city.
The four weeks of practical training were intense and extremely interesting. During its completion, the students got acquainted with the features of a psychologist’s work in preschool institutions, his/her functional responsibilities and received the necessary amount of practical knowledge, skills and abilities regarding the activities of a practical psychologist in PIs.
